Off to NYC!!! (April 17, 2018)

JRA said he would be by to pick me up at 5:45 am but was there just after 5:30 am.
I didn't even have a chance to make a coffee or get anything to eat.
Thank goodness My Honey, bless his heart, got up at 1:10 am last night to check us in on our flight.
I was exhausted this morning and would have been even worse so he saved me some sleep.
Next time we have a flight like that, I'll do the checking in and let him stay all cozy in bed!

The roads were really terrible for the first hour or so.
Snow covered and slick.
It is just a complete winter wonderland out there although truth be told, it doesn't feel very wonderful.
I am tired of the snow.
After the first hour, the roads cleared up but then it got super foggy just like yesterday morning.
We left in plenty of time though so we made it to the St Albert office in plenty of time for our meeting.
He and I were attending the same meeting for SOCT and CNQ'U.
We are implementing a new safety training tracking program so we wanted to go over course requirements with the foremen and explain how the implementation would work.
The meeting lasted until 11:00 am then I just found an office to work in.
One of the girls from the office here is out on maternity leave and I am taking over some of her duties so I worked in her office.
JRA was done so he head back home.

I was so hungry so I walked across the street to a little café there and picked up some lunch.

I got Beef & Barley soup, a chicken quesadilla,

a macaroon cookie and a chocolate chip cookie which I ate while waiting for my lunch. (Incidentally it was delicious).

At lunch I noticed a group of the ladies all eating together which surprised me, that wasn't something I often saw here at this office.
I joined them and the moral seems to be really good.
There were recently some girls that left and some new ones that just started but it seems to have been a good change.
The office was really busy today with all kinds of meetings going on.
My Honey was going to try to get off early and come get me so I thought I'd just hang around here and work until he arrived.
He said he won't get on the road until 3:30 at least so I am going to get a lift with one of the guys here to the mall and hang out there for a bit until My Honey can come and get me.
We will likely have some supper and just kick around until we have to go to the airport (our flight only leaves at 1:10 am so we have lots of time).

I worked until 4:30 then a fellow there at the St.Albert office gave me a ride to the St Albert mall.
I shopped around for a bit, found a pair of jeans I thought were $10.00 but they ended up being $4.99 which was awesome.

I got bored of shopping after about and hour and a half so I just sat in the food court and waited for My Honey.
Luckily he was able to get away from work early so I didn't have to wait too long.

He picked me up and we went to Smash Burger for supper.

They have brussel sprouts as a side now so you know I had to get those.
They aren't as good as OJ's but they were still pretty darn good.

We had lots of time before we had to head to the airport so we stopped at Walmart to get a few toiletries.
I ended up buying a couple of outfits for baby.
There are just so cute, it's going to be hard to resist.

Finally it was time to head to the airport.
We dropped the truck off at the Jetset parking, we use the WePark and it is so convenient.

Getting through security was a breeze so we had plenty of time to spare.

We usually go to Chili's so we changed it up and tried out Gretzky's place instead.
We figured we'd just have a little something for dessert since we'd already eaten supper.

My Honey - He wasn't really sad - just got him in a moment of pondering.

My Honey ordered the milk and cookies.

Oh no - you are not sharing any of my dessert!

I had the cheesecake with berry compote.
(I did share after all).

Way to stay positive!

This memory popped up on Facebook today of some crafts My Honey did with Miss A.

So am I!!!

Our flight boarded on time and we were up and away at 1:05am on the first leg of our trip from Edmonton to Toronto.
My Honey treated us to the plus seats so that was nice.
We didn't have to worry about sharing our row with anyone.

Plus they bring you things, like food, drinks and moist towelettes.
Because it was the red eye, the lights were dimmed for the whole flight.

There was an accident on a plane yesterday where the engine blew apart, smashed out a window on the plane while in flight and a women was half sucked out the window and killed.
I can't even imagine how horrific that must have been.
Of course that was showing on the news at the airport right before we left.

So I tried to sleep but that incident kept playing out in my mind so I had to keep busy playing games on my ipad and reading a few magazines I'd picked up.

It was a smooth flight and we got into Toronto around 6 am Toronto time.
So I'll stop there and pick back up in my next post.

So excited to be on our way to New York City - I don't think we will ever grow tired of it!

That is all for now, until next time, be happy!

It's a Girl!!! (April 16, 2018)

I had a meeting in Slave Lake today.
My boss was going to stop in and pick me up and my plan was to get to the office a little early and get a few things done before he arrived.

However, when I got there, I had a message to call him.
Turned out the meeting time was moved up so he didn't have time to come around my way and pick me up - he was heading straight there.
So I had to drive there myself which was no big deal.

I did get my weigh in done, down a little from last week so that is encouraging.
I have a pretty good feeling this number will be up next time after spending a week in New York but I can handle a couple pounds and I am going to get back to working out when we get back so hopefully it won't take long to shed.

I stopped and fueled up then got on the road.
It was extremely foggy, I could barely see the road ahead of me.

It was like that for the first 45 min of the drive.

After that it cleared up so that was good.

I got there just in time for the meeting to start.
We went over the training matrix with the foreman for that area then around 11:30 my boss, MM, and I went for lunch.

We went to Boston Pizza and I saw their Greek salad had real kalamata olives on it so I ordered it.
I was about 3/4 of the way through my meal before I realized they'd forgotten to add the olives.

MM and I chatted a bit, turns out he was a military brat and lived in Germany for a time as well.
He is living in BC now and it looks like a gorgeous spot.

When we got back to the office, he brought up the area on Google Maps and showed me.
He is halfway between Kelowna and Vernon in Lake Country and it looks just gorgeous.

I'd like to get out that way to see it some time.

After lunch, we did some one on one training with the admins there until about 3 pm then we called it a day.
I stopped at Walmart to get a little purse to use for NY then I headed home.

I picked up some trail mix and gum drops which I snacked on on the drive home.

Of course when I left, it was snowing - ENOUGH SNOW ALREADY!!!

I got home around 5 pm and immediately put in one last load of laundry.

I had some left over meat loaf for supper and I watched an episode of Heartland.

I have to get packed up tonight because I have meetings at our St Albert office tomorrow and I am getting a lift in with JRA.
Since we will be flying out tomorrow night, I am just going to stay in the city and My Honey is going to come in after he gets off work to pick me up.

We fly out at 1:10 am which means that one of us will have to get up tonight at that time to check in.

Miss H had an ultra sound today and she was going to find out the baby's gender so I gave my boy a call to see how that all went.

He said they would be dropping by which they did soon after.

He brought me some flowers,

and this beautiful card that means so much to me.

Sometimes I worry that maybe I didn't give him everything I would have liked to and I feel bad about it but he turned out to be such a caring, loving and kind human being that I am overwhelmed with pride and gratitude.
Love my boy to pieces that is for sure.

My Honey was home and we got mom to come up then they did their gender reveal for us.
(They had already done one at her mom's place with a piñata so it was so awesome that they came over and did one for us too!)

It's a girl!!!
I am so thrilled although if it had been a boy, I would be just as thrilled.
Side Note - I am still not entirely used to this new phone so when they did the gender reveal the first time for us, I thought I was recording it all when in fact I was not.
So this was a total reenactment they did for me.
I so silly!

That means I can start picking up stuff now that is more specific.
She says she likes yellow and she wants to decorate the room with a big tree on the wall and little birds so I am going to start hunting for stuff.

Someone brought their kid to the store!
Ha ha, I saw this on Facebook and I thought it was so cute.
I mean who doesn't want a baby goat dressed in a pair of overalls?

After my son and Miss H left, I got busy packing.
I had everything ready to go so My Honey could bring it in to the city with him tomorrow when he comes to pick me up.
5 am is going to be here before I know it!

New York City tomorrow night, can't wait!

That is all for today, until next time, be happy!

Just Kicking Back (April 15, 2018)

I woke up super early but I really wanted to sleep in so I forced myself to stay in bed and try to fall back aseep.
SUCCESS!

I ended up sleeping in until 9:30 am and it felt wonderful.
I really needed it.

When I got up, I made a coffee then watched an episode of Heartland.
There have been a couple new ones that I haven't seen so that is exciting.

The one thing I really wanted to accomplish today was to get the Krazy Kolor Run Facebook page updated.
We are holding it on June 24 to raise funds for a former co-worker who recently was diagnosed with cancer.
It is coming up fast and I've been meaning to update the page for over a week now but have just been super busy.
So as soon as I finished my coffee, I went to my office, sat down at the computer and got it done.

After that, I did a few other little odd jobs that I've been wanting to do.

I bought a new, sturdier tension rod for the closet curtain but it is much thicker than the first tension rod I purchased so I had to take the curtain down, rip out the stitches and sew a larger sleeve for the rod.
I got that done.

Next I changed out the brackets for the curtain rods in the bedroom.
They didn't stick out far enough from the wall and the curtains were getting hung up on the blinds.
Got that done too.

Next I worked on putting everything back into the hall closet, it looks much cleaner and more organized than before so that is awesome.

I also got one of the corbels that I picked up yesterday painted and hung up.
This wall will be a work in progress likely for some time to come.

I also did laundry and dishes.
I made a trip to the store to pick up stuff to make supper.
I wanted to try making cheesy hash browns and since I can't find the shredded hash browns anywhere, I picked up potatoes and grated the potato myself.
I added cheddar soup, sour cream and lots of cheese and put it in the oven.

I turned out more like a dish we make back home called rapure so not what I was going for but still good.

I also made meatloaf to go with it.

Then I sat down and rented myself a movie.

The Big Sick.

Professor Snuggles curled up on my lap and kept me company while I watched it.

I was still watching it when My Honey got home.

It was an ok movie.

When My Honey got home, I got him to help me put on the new bed skirt that I found.
It is a perfect match color wise!
What an awesome find!

I was feeling better today as far as my breathing goes but I was still really tired so after My Honey and I ate, we basically went right to bed.

I saw this on Facebook today and want to try it when I go to New York.
I love fruity ice cream with all the toppings!

Ha ha - this is exactly how cats are.

A Facebook memory of Mr H in his little skinny jeans, they looked so adorable on him.

That is all for today, until next time, be happy.

Bargain Finds (April 14, 2018)

I woke up when My Honey left for work this morning and I could not get back to sleep.
I had shut the basement door to keep the kitties upstairs since T is afraid of them and Paddington peed on my bed, the little bugger.
I couldn't be too mad though, it was partially my fault for locking them away from their litter box.
So I had to get up and strip the bed so I could wash it all and I had to let them downstairs.

Our company got up but they didn't visit long, they have a long trip to Calgary so they pretty much got on the road right away.

After they left, mom and I headed to WCT.
I got the idea in my head that I want to make a rag rug for the living room so I wanted to go to the second hand store to look for some old flannel sheets.

I didn't find any sheets but I did find these.
I think I am going to kind of start collecting these.
One I got for $3, the other was $2.
I was thinking that it would look cool if I had a whole bunch of different ones but they were all painted the same color and displayed on the same wall.

I did find a few little things, like some pillow cases, a bed skirt (for $3) and a runner with colors to match my new color scheme in the living room.
Pretty good buys.
Makes me wish I had a second hand store closer that I could browse in more often to see what I could find.

We went to OJ's for lunch.

I was so looking forward to having my favorite of their menu items,

brussel sprouts.
The way they make them is awesome.
Crunchy and salty with some smokiness from the bacon but balanced out with the creaminess of the sauce.
I love it.

Mom had a pretty good breakfast too.

I ordered the breakfast tacos too but since I ate all the brussel sprouts, I was only able to eat one of these tacos.
I took the rest home for My Honey.

After we ate, we stopped at Walmart to pick up some things I needed.
I got a Swiffer Vacuum to do the new floors, new hardware for the curtains in my room so they sit out further than my blinds, a new tension rod for the hall closet and a new light fixture for the living room.

When we were driving home I was completely exhausted suddenly.
I couldn't wait to get home to have a nap.
When I got home, I decided to have a nice long bath instead.

When My Honey got home, I wasn't feeling very great.
I felt like I couldn't take a good deep breath.
Not sure what was up with that but I thought maybe it was due to lack of sleep.
We went to bed early and if it is still like this tomorrow, I may have to get it checked out.

My Son and His Honey posted a ton of Hawaii pictures this morning.
I loved looking through them all, I hope they don't mind if I share.

Sunshine makes everyone happy!

Looks like a delicious meal.

Showing here little sister the fishies.

Ha ha, probably not the speediest mode of transportation.

Looks like they got o check out a neat museum.

My handsome boy.

Enjoying the ocean.

Her little sister is such a cutie pie.

Love these flowers, I think the one in her hair looks great but I am pretty sure if it was in my hair that I would get tired of it quite quickly.

Miss H and her mama.

Striking a pose.
Next year, instead of pushing around her little sister, she will have her own bundle of joy to push around.

Aloha!

Looks like they explored some water falls.

The cute couple.

Now with the hat.

Ha ha - cutie pie.

Sister Selfie.

What a beauty she is, inside and out.

They look like they are enjoying themselves, makes me so happy.

Not sure what he is looking at here?

Catching some rays.

Uh oh, wonder if that bus driver has a license?

Silly boy.

Making friends with some locals.

How does the saying go?
One in the bush is worth two in the hand?

What about one on the head I wonder?

Not sure how cool I would have been to have birds sitting all over me.

Miss H got in on some bird action too.

Look at that view, the green against the black against the blue, just stunning.

Another sister selfie.

Aww, young and in love.
Makes my heart happy.

So happy this gorgeous soul will be my grandbaby's mama.

Makes me so happy to see him so happy.
Sure proud of this fellow right here!

I love this shot of her - she could be a model.

Nothing makes me think of Hawaii more than this expression.

These tiki guys are so cool.

Funky duck - wonder where they met this guy at?

That grass just looks so green and lush.

This must be the "pondering" pose.

Looks like they tried some local food which was nice to see.
Wasn't sure how adventurous they would be when it comes to that but I think when you are visiting a new place, you definitely should try some of the local cuisine.

She looks like a flower child here.
It suits her.

Everyone can use a lift every now and then.

Replace Cake with Trail Mix and this describes me to a T!

That is all for today, until next time, be happy!
