City Trip - Movie with Jen and the Boys (July 19, 2025)

Now that I've decided that I'm going to run a half marathon in October, I need to make sure I get out there and get some miles on my boots.

I'm not going to follow any plan this time, I am just going to try to run at least 5k every day then on the weekends I'm going to bump it up and try running a little further every weekend.

I kind of didn't feel up to running today so I told myself I'd just head out and get 3k done because we are heading into the city and I wanted to try to get on the road.

Once I was out there though, I just decided to keep going and get 5k done.
It would only be an extra 20 minutes or so - not a huge change to our timeline.

I felt proud of myself for getting it done and now I have pretty much all the steps I need for the day.

Freya ended up coming with us.
We stopped in Barrhead to drop the towels back to Rita that she'd lent to Jason when he took the girls swimming the other day.

We also stopped to drop a donation off at the second hand store and I picked up a bunch more puzzles - mostly 500 piece ones.
I did get one that is a thousand pieces - it's a picture of birds and I thought it would be fun to do.

We stopped in to Morinville to have a look at the house that my sister bought.
We couldn't go in but I just wanted to see it and the area - it looks nice.

We stopped at Starbucks for a latte for me and cake pops for Freya.
They've been working on this building and we weren't sure what it was going to be.
Bonnie was hoping for a Sephora and I had seen the black and white stripes on it last time so I said it might possibly be a Sephora - it's confirmed.

Next we headed over to West Edmonton mall.
We went right to the food court for something to eat and Jen and the boys met us there.

We were going to do the new VR Experience but instead decided to go to the movie.

We saw the new Superman movie.
I wasn't sure if Freya would enjoy it but she did.

She gets very emotional when bad things happen to the good guys and can barely stand to watch.
Like at one point, Superman's dog gets covered in this black substance by one of the 'bad guys' and the dog is whimpering - Freya was so upset.
I promised her he would be ok - same as when Superman is 'losing' - I promised her he would win in the end and so she was ok to watch.

On the way out of the mall Freya noticed this giant shoe in the Skechers store so she had Jason take a picture.

From there, Jen and the boys headed to Wetaskawin - it was the closest to the airport they could find a hotel room.
There are a few things going on in the city this weekend (K-Days, Taste of Edmonton, The Weeknd concert) so most hotel rooms were sold out and the ones that weren't were like 700 bucks.

We decided to get a room in Camrose because we like the trails there and were looking forward to a run there.

We got a room at the Camrose Casino - it was a nice room.
Freya was hungry so we ordered pizza then it was quite late before we finally turned out the lights and called it a night.

When we were visiting Morgan yesterday, she showed me these really nice pictures Kalem's mother had taken of them so I had her send them to me.

Morgan and Whitney - I love her little overalls.

Whitney, Morgan and Kalem.

This one is my favorite - what a great picture!
I think I'm going to get it printed off so I can hang it up in my house.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
