The Enchanted Forest, Raku Rice & Noodles and Vernon, BC (Aug.1, 2024)

Jason was up early this morning and headed out for a run and when I got up, I headed out for a walk.

I don't want to end up having to walk for hours when we make it to Vernon later today.

They have this statue alongside the walking path - I'm not sure if it's meant to be Groot but sure looks like him.

I figured I'd take a picture with him.

It was a gorgeous morning and even though there is a fire currently burning here near Golden, the sky was nice and clear.

Getting out for a morning walk and some fresh air is so good for the soul.

I walked over to the town sign that Jason and I walked to last night and I met him there coming down the hill from his walk.

Back at the room everyone was up and getting ready to head out.
We did take the kids for a quick dip in the pool first.

Everyone just having coffee and chatting.
Nice chill start to the morning.

Haylee, Eden and Freya.

Then we were on the road heading to The Enchanted Forest by Revelstoke.
Freya wanted to drive with Zepplyn in Lloyd and Rita's vehicle so it was just Jason and I.
We got stuck several times in some slow moving traffic but we made it eventually.

Everyone else in our group came to The Enchanted Forest a couple years ago but it was the first time for Jason and I.

Miss Eden.

Kody, Eden and Jason checking out the castle.

The little criminal (she stole my heart).
I had to look up what this thing is called - it's a pillory.
There you go, learned something new today.

Jason tested it out as well - I could see it getting very old very fast.

There is definitely a fairy tale theme here.

Castle right at the entrance.

Rita and Lloyd.

Random little hippo.

Lookout off the castle and then a dungeon down below that had a surprise inside.

Little baby dragons.

There is a path that you follow and its on the side of hill so there is somewhat of an incline so a good workout.

Swans.

So creative.

Frogs.

Mermaids

More frogs near the pond.

The Enchanted Forest.

The three little kittens that lost their mittens eating some pie.

Trying out the barrel horses.

This one was 'pulling' a cart behind it.

They were super cute.

Farmer having a rest on the hay with his chickens.

A Village of Liver & Onions

The little onion houses - someone has a great imagination.

The treasure at the end of the rainbow!

Little Boy Blue maybe?

Speak no evil, hear no evil, see no evil.

The three little pigs - the house of straw.

The house of sticks.

The house of bricks.

Just chilling.

Hanging out with the third little piggie.

The old lady that lived in the shoe.

Then this is the old lady that lived in a hat.

I've never heard this one before - wonder if it's a classic or if someone here penned it?

Just walking through here was so nice.

These leaves were gigantic!!!

Giant mushrooms along the way.

And the little creatures under and over them.

Woodland critters.

The good fairy.

So many cute little details everywhere you look.

Me and my baby boy.

Kids and bunnies.

The Cat & The Fiddle.

The cow jumped over the moon.

The dish ran away with the spoon.

Who knew?

Imagine using a mushroom for shelter.

Just a girl and her auntie.

The girls with Snow White.

Fairy on a swing.

Some wildlife in the forest.

Trolls in the forest.

Friendly trolls.

Little Miss Muffet.

Little boy blue

A pirate ship in the middle of the forest.

I climbed up it and this is looking at all the folks down below.

Jason taking a picture of me taking a picture of him.

The pirate at the top guarding the plank.

Making a Cat's Cradle.

Zepplyn trying out a log horse.

Freya tried it out too.

Looking back at the pirate ship.

A stork delivering a baby.

Bambi and Flower.

Some little fairy doors in the trees.

There were random houses that the kids could go inside and check out.

This was an actual hollowed out tree they could go into.

Another structure - It was like a house with a big deck.

There was a kitchen inside with a cloud covered ceiling.

The back side of it.

With Winnie the Pooh and his friends.

Eden really liked the characters.

Owl was even there up in the tree.

Following the yellow brick road.

I think this is Dorothy's house in Kansas.

The Lion, the Tin-Man and the Scarecrow.

Eden and Haylee.

In the land of Oz.

Dorothy and Toto.

Eden and Mommy

Little Bo Peep and her sheep.

There was a super tall tree fort.

Freya and Zepplyn.

Some of us walked up to the top of the fort and everyone else waited at the bottom.

These four and myself made it to the top of the tree fort.

Heading back down - the stairs were very windy.

There was a kitchen on one level.

Just about back at the bottom.

The home of the Three Bears that Godilocks visited.

Another little house.

There was a climbing park right in the same area but there was a separate entrance fee to that park so we skipped it today but it might be a great spot to check out on a future trip.

Eden - Let me In!

I like this little moss covered abode.

A giant witches hat.

This was from Hansel and Gretel.

Uh oh - Freya is locked in the cage with them.

You can see this giant up in the tree from the outside of the park.

He's pretty far up there.

Just before the exit there was a pond with fish and ducks and mermaids of course.

You could buy food to feed the ducks so Lloyd bought some for the girls.

Feeding ducks is always a popular activity.

Eden really wanted to get one of those ducks.

Feeding the ducks

Trying to get the ducks

The troll under the bridge.

The Billy goats gruff.

A really amazing carved bench.

The white rabbit off to the tea party.

He's still very very late.

You had to walk through this funky lit up tunnel to exit.

It was pretty long.

Thank you for coming.

We all hopped back in the cars - Freya still wanted to stay with Zepplyn so Jason and I were alone again which was fine.

When we made it to Vernon, Haylee wanted to go out for ramen so we all met at a spot downtown called Raku Rice & Noodle Bar.

There were too many of us to all sit at one table.

I had to take a selfie to prove I was there too.

They had chicken ramen which I had in Vancouver one time and just loved and you don't see it on menus often so that's what I ordered.
It was kind of bland though so a little disappointing - I wouldn't order it here again.

Jason got this kimchi ramen and I tried a little - it was fantastic - way better than what I got.
If we ever go again I'm having this kind.

This little chicklet just loves ramen - it's her very favorite.

Zepplyn likes it too and they both love spicy.

From there, we all headed to our Airbnb for the next four nights which was kind of up in the hills of Vernon.

It had a huge basement with a workout room.

And this giant amazing couch that I loved.

The hardware on the cabinets was very blingy.

There was a really nice fire bit area although there is currently a fire ban on so we won't be able to have any fires.

You can just see down in the yard that there was a trampoline too and the kids ended up spending a lot of time down playing on it.

One of the rooms had a massage chair so you know we had to test that out.

I love this print above the tub in the upstairs bathroom.
It just captures the essence of summer time and a warm breeze.

They had a dyson hair dryer which I look forward to testing out.

There was a hot tub - we had to try that out right away - it was very hot but still nice.

There was a big deck with lots of seating.

It had an outdoor carpet on it so it was great for Miss Eden.

Look at that smile.

She started sticking her tongue out and its always kind of to the side - so funny.

I love her little grin so much.

We spent the rest of the evening just unpacking and hanging out - its a big beautiful home with lots of space.
I think we are going to really enjoy our time here.

The girls did go down and test out the trampoline.

These are just more pictures from today that Haylee and Crystal took that I thought I would share.

Freya and Eden.

Zepplyn and Eden.

Freya among the mushrooms.

Zepplyn on the yellow brick road.

Kody and Ede  with the Winnie the Pooh characters.

Eden trying to get Piglet.

The whole group shot.

In the little pigs house (the one made of bricks)

The mountains.

This was at the hotel in Golden - there was this giant bear out front of the lobby.

Zepp with the bear.

So stylish.

Kody and Eden - always so smiley.

The beautiful blue water against the majestic mountains - so stunning.

Someone got Eden a bear.

Clapping.
She's so proud of herself that she can clap.

And proud of herself for standing too.
Not much longer and she'll be running around.

She likes yelling too and making herself heard - it's funny.

Chillaxing with mom and dad.

Coolest baby around.

Piggy back rides are the best.

Besties (sometimes).

This is the carved wooden bench from Enchanted Forest - look at the details.

The frogs singing by the pond.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
