Weigh In, Bike Ride and Marathon is Almost Here (Aug.15, 2022)

You know what Monday means - weigh in day!

I was 205.4 lbs.

That means I'm slowly creeping back up.

It is a gain of 1.4 lbs since last week which I'm sad to say, I earned.
Definitely will be getting back at it when we get back from Iceland.

As I decided not to run today to give my groin a rest, I went for a bike ride after work.
I only planned on doing 8k and only if it didn't bother my groin.
It didn't bother my groin at all so I went a bit further.
It was bothering my left knee a bit  - both knees have been hurting again but I'm attributing that to the weight I've put back on.

The exercise details.

The bike ride only burned 7 calories - hardly seems worth it.

I enjoyed it though - I've been so focused on running this summer that I've barely ridden my bike at all and I kind of missed it.
I'm going to try to focus on it a bit more when we get back - maybe even try biking to Whitecourt one day (76k).

After my bike ride, I stopped by Kody's.
I had purchased a pool a month or so ago and I told him he could have it.
He was setting it up and I wanted to go over and see how it was going.

His yard isn't level so he was having a hard time figuring out a spot to put the pool.
We decided to dig a hole and get my brother to bring a load of sand to put in it to level it out.
So I helped him mark it out and we got busy digging.

Then Jason reminded us that we needed to do an Alberta One Call to find out where the gas lines are - we didn't want to strike one so we stopped digging.

Freya, Zepplyn and Hunter were all there playing.
I was busy so I didn't really get any pictures but they were having a lot of fun together.

It was probably a good thing that we decided to leave the digging because it was tough and I'm supposed to be giving my body a rest.

When I got home, I gathered up all the laundry so I could do a few last minute loads before packing.
I'll pack tomorrow after work.
I also cut out some diamonds on my Cricut for Morgan - she needs them for decorations at a bridal shower that she is going to.

I found the plug converters we'd gotten for a trip to London as they have European shaped plug outlets in Iceland and I also got our passports out so we wouldn't forget them.
I can't believe our trip is almost here and the marathon is only days away.

Ha ha - I think I'm fairly easy to get along with most times but I still thought this was funny.

This isn't really my vocabulary but again, I just thought it was really funny.
It made me think of my co-worker, Shennelle.
She doesn't swear like this, I just thought she would appreciate the humour of it.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Difficult Decision about Running and Messy Activities (Aug.14, 2022)

My groin was really bothering me again when I woke up this morning.

I took some Tylenol and Advil and hopefully it will kick in soon and I'll be able to get out for a run.

Jason was making breakfast for the guys out at work today.

He sent me a few pictures of his progress.

He made Cap'n Crunch french toast.

Strawberries and peaches for the pancakes he made.

Raspberry cream cheese for the french toast.

He had some lemon zest in with the raspberries.

He made lots so hopefully there will be leftovers.

Nadine sent me a picture of the finished welcome sign I helped her with - I think it turned out pretty well.

I saw this on Facebook or Instagram or something and thought it would make an awesome coffee mug or shirt.

I headed out for my run around 11.

I ran down in the industrial part again.
It was tough.
The first 2k I was really limping and thought if the pain in my groin didn't ease up that I wouldn't be able to continue.
It did ease up though and felt much better until about 7k in when it kind of started up again.
I made myself finish the 13k that I needed - it was very slow going but I finished.

My exercise details and average heart rate.

My average pace and splits.
I was very slow today.

My check in video for today.

I think I'm going to have to take a rest from running for a few days.

I have only 4 more runs left on the schedule until the marathon and it's been a difficult decision to come to but I decided that I'm going to skip some or maybe all of them.

I think that missing the next couple of runs is less risky then trying to run them and possibly injure myself further.

I have an 8k on Monday and Tuesday, rest on Wednesday then an 8k on Thursday followed by a 5k on Friday the day before the run.

I'm for sure going to skip Monday and Tuesday.

I'm going to try biking and if that doesn't hurt my groin I'll bike 8k on both Monday and Tuesday.

Wednesday is a rest day and that's our travel day as well so that worked out well.

Then we get to Iceland Thursday morning, depending on how I'm feeling, I think I might try to get a 5k run in on either Thursday or Friday.

My thought process is that these next 4 runs are not going to make or break all the training that I've put in if I don't do them but they may cause further injury if I do so I'm going to try to go easy on my groin and hope for the best come marathon day.

It's really disappointing because I only have a couple runs left on the training schedule and they are easier runs so the 'list' person in me (or anal person might be a better word) really wants to get those runs ticked off.

This is the taper part of the training that I was looking forward to but the end game is what is most important here so giving my groin a rest until the marathon I think will be the most sensible thing to do.

Kody and Freya dropped by just as I got home from my run.
Kody popped down and did a workout on the treadmill and Freya and I hung out.

She got into my lipstick.

First she just put some on.

But then she decided to create some artwork.

It started off with a face.
I love the little face she drew.

The "Lipstick Artiste" hard at work.

Proud of her creation.
I love the long curly hair.

Cleaning it up turned into another mess - she was spraying windex everywhere but we got that under control and then decided to another potentially mess activity.

We decided to paint our nails.

She did mine first.

Then she did her own.

One color wasn't enough, we had to pick out three.

She did a fantastic job.

Kody went home after his workout but Greya stayed and hung out with me for a bit.

Inventing a new game for us to play.

Basically she tells me who I'm going to be and what I'm going to say then we play out the scenario over and over until she gets tired of it and comes up with a new one.

She really has a great imagination.

She loves pretending to be all things creepy.

Her creepy doll face.

A birthday message from Freya for her Mom.

She knows just what to get her Mom for her birthday.
I mean, who wouldn't want a unicorn floatie and a unicorn dress?

She wanted to make another message (she was having me record them then she'd watch them right away).

A final birthday message for Mommy.

She wants to be Cat Noir for Christmas.
😂😂😂

Kody and Haylee came back after supper to pick her up and to have a look at the stuff I picked up for her birthday party.
Freya had wanted to stay but ended up going home with them because Zepplyn wanted to come over for a visit so they went and picked her up.

Jason brought me home leftovers for supper - they were delicious.
The raspberry cream cheese sauce was soooooo yummy.

Haylee's birthday is today but she went out with her friends last night to celebrate and they got her a cake.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Morning with Freya and 10k Treadmill Run (Aug.13, 2022)

I woke up when Jason was getting ready to go to work and my groin was in a lot of pain.

So I got up, took both Advil and Tylenol then got back in bed with Freya.

I needed rest and she went to bed late so she and I had a really good sleep in this morning, I think it was close to 10 when we actually got up.

We chilled and played and she got into stuff.

She loooves to makes stuff (especially messes I think) she gets out a cup or bowl and starts adding whatever she can get her hands onto into it - dish soap, baking soda, food coloring, lentils, just whatever she finds when she opens the cupboard.

It was a very nice day out so she and I decided to go for a walk to the store.

We thought we'd stop in and pick up Hunter to go play at the park but they weren't home.

We did see Haylee though, her friend had taken her to the store and was just dropping her off at home so after we went to the store, Freya wanted to go over there.

Just hanging on the porch.

They were heading to Whitecourt and they took Freya with them which meant I was able to get out for my run.

I opted to do it on the treadmill - It was super hot out and I was going so slow yesterday that I felt like I would be more comfortable on the treadmill.

I had to run 10k (6.215 miles) and it took me longer than what it would have outdoors but I had to really keep the speed down as it was bothering my groin.

My check in video for today.

After my workout, I went down to the store and got myself an ice cream cone and sat out on my swing to eat it.
It was such a nice day out.

I figured Kody would bring Freya back to spend the night but he didn't.

I thought this would be cute on a sign.

10k Run and Interview with Freya (Aug.12, 2022)

I got up early this morning and thought I'd have my coffee then get out early for my run but then I ended up procrastinating way too long and only got out the door close to 2 pm.

It was a hot one out there so I was happy to be done with the run.

I had to run 10k today.
I knew I was going to limping and slow so I went and ran in the lower part of town, the industrial section.
I just figured there'd be less people around.

My average pace and heart rate.

My groin is bothering me - took almost 2k before it really warmed up and I could get going.
Still had to take it slow though.

My video check in for today.

After I got home, I had a nice bath then I worked on some craft projects.
Kody had to go to Barrhead for a job so after supper he brought Freya by for me to watch and she ended up spending the night.

She noticed the ring light and it reminded her of the interviews we've done with her in the past so she wanted to do another one.

We ended up having a pretty chill evening.

Impromptu Steak Lunch (Aug.11, 2022)

Yay - it's Thursday, that means the weekend is nearly here.

While on our coffee break this morning, we decided to have a steak bbq for lunch today at the office.

It was very impromptu so I left a bit early for lunch to go get my run in.

It was a gorgeous day out there today.

I had to run 8k today.
I was able to complete it all in the top part of town

My exercise details and average heart rate.

My average pace and splits.
Both my groin issue and the heat were factors today so a bit slower but it's done!

My video check in for today.

Lunch was fantastic.
John did the cooking and the steak was so good.
We also had baked potatoes, beans and caesar salad to go along with the steak.
The beans were so good, I had two helpings.
I forgot to take a picture of the attendees - we were just a small group today, Bonnie, John, Blair, Tom and I.

I was looking for treat bag ideas for Freya's birthday party and came across these cute marshmallow ballerina's.
We are going to be in Iceland for Freya's birthday so I asked Morgan if she would make them for her if I got all the stuff and she said she would.
So cute.

Jason ordered new headphones yesterday because his stopped working.
He hoped they'd get here in time to take to Iceland with us - well they came today.
Amazing!

Morgan posted this cute picture of Hunter and the little guy she babysits - he is such a little cutie!

After work, I headed to Whitecourt to do some shopping.
I picked up treat bag and birthday party stuff for Freya.
I also picked up cat food and litter so it would be all stocked up for when we are away.
Rob is going to feed the cats for us and clean the litter box and visit them a bit too while we are gone.
What a great brother I have.

Jason was already home when I got home from Whitecourt.
He helped me carry everything in then headed out for a bike ride and I chilled for the rest of the evening and just watched a bit of tv.
