Sad Saturday

This morning I woke up not feeling very great.  I had quite a long bath first thing hoping it would make me feel a bit better.

Afterwards I went downstairs and got my work out in.  The schedule today was
5 min brisk walk
4 x 5 min runs with 1 min walk in between
5 min cool down.
I was just happy that I got it done.

After I headed down to the memorial service for my co-workers son.
She asked if myself along with two others girls from the office would sit by the front door to welcome folks as they arrived, which of course we did.
It was meant to be a Celebration of Life.  His uncle read a nice eulogy and then they played a slide show to music and I thought the service was very nice and touching.  It is so difficult to lose someone, especially when they are so young and it just comes out of nowhere.
I feel for the whole family.
I didn't know him and only met him a handful of times.  He was polite and mannerly and I could just tell how much he loved his mom.  As a mother myself, I can't imagine what she is experiencing right now, how do you even begin to comfort someone?  Actually, I don't think you really can.

After the service, My Honey & I headed out of town to do a bit of shopping.  I was really starting to feel ill so I slept the whole way down.  I only went in one store and just hung out in the truck while My Honey ran errands.  I was feeling a bit better so we met some friends at the casino for supper. I ordered the chipotle chicken salad.

I had a craving for sweet potato fries so I ordered those too.  As it turned out, I was glad that I did.  The chipotle chicken ended up being too spicy for me and I couldn't eat it.

My Honey told his buddies that he wasn't leaving the casino until he won $500.00 and he did just that!  He always shares with me which is so generous of him.  I am not a big gambler, I just bet small so that I can enjoy it longer but that means that I don't normally win big either.  I want so badly to have a big win so I can share with him one of these days.  I did ok today though and from the $20 I gambled I ended up walking away with $90 so I got to share a little bit with him today.

We didn't hang out there long as I was not feeling well.

We got home around 8pm and watched another episode of The Get Down which is growing on us.  My Honey also whipped up a Sweet Potato Pie and a Pecan Pie for supper tomorrow.  Pecan Pie is my favorite and I can't wait to indulge tomorrow.
Fitbit Stats
I missed a few of my goals today.  I didn't sleep well last night so I slept in this morning as long as I could, then we drove for an hour so I missed another hourly goal there but all in all, for how I was feeling today I am ok with todays finals.

Until next time, be happy!

Easy Friday

I was covering at reception again today and since it was Friday I thought I would keep today's Words of Wisdom light hearted.  I heard this years ago and it always makes me chuckle.

Lunch was leftover turkey burgers and last nights salad with that yummy dressing.  It was perfect.

Desert was some kiwi which I don't often buy but every time I do, I wonder why I don't get it more often because it is so good.

My Honey used to work at the same place I did and while he was there he was the proud keeper of the best candy jar in the office.  When he left, he passed the keeping of the candy jar along to me.
I take it quite seriously, having the best candy jar in the joint is quite a prestigious title!

Today, a fellow co-worker brought in a BIG box of mini candy bars to refill the jar.  I just thought that it was so kind and thoughtful of him to do that.
I like having the candy there for everyone to help themselves, I don't mind keeping it stocked up, it doesn't cost a huge amount to do it and it isn't like I HAVE to, it is my own choice but again, I just thought that him thinking to do that was a nice gesture.

That picture of My Honey & I was taken last year in San Francisco when we were on the boat heading over to check out Alcatraz.

We took the easy way out for supper tonight.

It was quite delicious actually!
We watched another episode of "The Get Down" before heading to bed.  I am not sure if my efforts to fend off this impending cold are working.

Fitbit Stats
OMG - I missed the Floors goal by 2 floors tonight.  What was I thinking? Why didn't I check my totals before I went to bed when this just happened to me yesterday?
Got to let it go and move on, tomorrow I will try again.

Quick Out of Town Trip

I was covering at reception today so I got to write today's Words of Wisdom.

Lunch today was a mish-mash of leftovers.  It was pretty darn good too!

My friend needed to go out of town to order some flooring so we offered to take her.  I knew we might be late so I went straight home from work and hopped on the treadmill to get todays workout completed.
On the schedule today;
5 min brisk walk
25 min run
5 min cool down

Looks like there is a storm headed our way.  Weird how one side of the sky looks so nice and blue and the other side is just stormy grey.

While my friend was shopping for flooring, we wandered around and checked out the store.  They just have sooo much stuff here.  My Honey couldn't decide which bench he liked best, the piggy one........

or the unicorn.  I think for just under $2000.00 this was a steal of a deal!  Ha ha, I can't imagine who would ever buy it?

They also had this awesome dinosaur for sale, cool, but why?

They do have a pretty awesome outdoor section and there is so much stuff to look at you could spend hours in there.

Then we saw the best rainbow ever, hard to tell here but the colors were just the most vibrant I think I have ever seen on a rainbow.

We picked up some take out then headed home.  The leaves are all changing colors.  We mainly only get shades of yellow here, not really any "ketchup" trees like we have back home but still pretty.  Normally the leaves don't stay on the trees long enough here to enjoy the fall colors but so far this year it has been quite beautiful.

Supper was some Miso Soup.  I think I drank this in one gulp, it was so delicious.

Then we shared some Bilgogi Beef, Philadelphia Rolls, Hoison Beef and their specialty salad which has the most delicious dressing ever.  They make it in house and I am not sure what they put in it but I could drink it on it's own.

Fitbit Stats
I can't believe I missed the Floors goal by 1 floor.  I should have looked before I went to bed, I could have ran and did that lickety split.

I think I feel a bit of scratchiness in my throat.  I'm going to pump some Cold FX into myself and hope like heck that I don't get sick.

Until next time, be happy!

Weigh in Wednesday #6

It truly was still dark out when I got up for work this morning.  Boy is it ever difficult to crawl out of bed when the sun hasn't even come up yet.

See, still dark!

Weigh in this morning - 247.0 lbs.
So that = -.4 lbs!
Ok, so weight isn't dropping off me and I am okay with that.  I could go on some crash diet where I feel deprived and I work out every day like a maniac and I know I could probably lose weight faster.  I could probably even do it for a while, but I couldn't sustain it forever.  Eventually I would snap and in no time at all I would be right back where I started.

That is why I want to do it differently this time around.  Sure I could have been more active over the weekend but overall, I was active.  I have not binged since I began which is, I think, due to the fact that I am not making anything off limits.  If I really want something, I have it, just a smaller portion.
I think it is part mind game too because by not restricting anything completely, I haven't really been craving anything.

I don't feel like I am on a "diet" or working out to extremes and this feels very sustainable to me.  It may take a much longer time to reach my goal but if I am consistent, I will do it.

I grabbed a sub and brought it back to the office for lunch today.  Egg white omelet with bacon and ALL the veggies with some sweet peppers on the side.  It was delish!

I was happy to see the sun while I was out doing my hourly walks today!

Looks like another creature is walking the same path as me.

Kitty dropped by for another visit.

 Someone is looking VERY comfortable!

Mom was sitting this evening so I dropped by for a visit.  Mr. H was loving on Sage, she is such a lovey dog!

Miss A had a little bit of fall today and needed this many bandaids for her injury!  Bandaids always make booboo's feel better.

My Honey & I were chasing this guy around trying to get a non-blurry picture, it wasn't easy!

Gotcha!

OMG - loving the little jeans, he should be on the cover of GQ!
All the little ladies will be swooning over him one day.

Thinking about what he can get into next!

Have to give Jonesie some love too!

Miss A wanted to do a model pose for me, this is what she came up with, ha ha!

Aww, Nanny needed some lovin on too!

More cuddles before bedtime!

It was late by the time we sat down to supper, I just picked up an easy salad kit (this kind is my fave so far).

I added some chicken breast and sunflower seeds and it was a most excellent meal!

A friend of mine was raving about this show on Facebook so I thought I would check it out.
My Honey & I watched the first episode tonight.
We didn't get instantly hooked like we did with Stranger Things but it was good.
It is set in the 70's in New York City so that alone made it interesting for us NYC Lovers to watch.
I love 70's music, hip hop and even disco!

I will watch the rest of it FO'SHUR!

Fitbit Stats - Ta-Da!
The planning schedule today was Rest/Cross Train so no work out.

Food for today:
Breakfast - Special K Protein Cereal, All Bran, Banana, Almond Milk
Lunch - 6" Egg White Omelet w/bacon & veggies, Sweet Peppers
Supper - Southwest Salad w/chicken & sunflower Seeds, Orange, Kiwi

That's it, that's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Another Rainy Day

We sure have been getting our fair share of rain the past few months.  Such a drastic change from back in May when there was a complete and utter fire ban on, absolutely no fires of any kind were permitted.  Now there are basements flooding all over town.

I was able to do a couple of my walks outside today but because it was pouring I had to do a few inside too.  What counts is getting them all done though which I did.

The sun had perfect timing today and came out just as I was getting off work.  When I got home the neighbours cat was there to welcome me home.  Such a friendly little thing, he/she (don't know which) was rolling around by my feet hoping to get a nice rub.  My Honey usually puts out some cream for a treat for kitty and gives him/her pretty nice rubs so subsequently, they are grand friends.

Kitty is not at all shy and followed me right in the house.  I think maybe looking for My Honey who arrived home shortly after so he had a warm kitty welcome too!
It really is a super friendly kitty!

Got my work out done rather early tonight which felt great.

On the schedule today:
5 min brisk walk
3 x 5 min jogs (with 1 min walk in between)
5 min cool down

I was experiencing shin splints yesterday and again today.  It has been years since that happened.  I wonder if I need new shoes or I need to be stretching out better?  I'll give it a few more work outs and see what happens.

Supper was fabulous.  Turkey burger, homemade sweet potato fries and salad.  Perfect meal and I savoured every bite.
I even had the pleasure of enjoying it from my favorite plate.  We have lots of mix & match dishes but we each have favorites and this is mine.

My Honey got to use his favorite plate as well.  See why we have mix & match?  Our tastes are quite different.

Another awesome Facebook memory of two of the cutest dudes ever! I have extremely handsome nephews, don't I?  I love how boyish everything about this picture is, tractor, dirt, wood and the great outdoors!

I wanted to keep track of my food again (I've been forgetting) so here goes:
Breakfast - Vector Cereal, Almond Milk, Banana
Lunch - Macaroni Salad, Imitation Lobster
Supper - Turkey Burger, Sweet Potato Fries, Salad (tomatoes, avocado, onion, sweet peppers, olives, spinach and feta cheese) and my famous dip (Seafood Cocktail Sauce & Mayo)

Fitbit Stats - Fully Met!
I am happy with this!
Tomorrow is weigh in day and I am concerned but I can't change anything that has happened, can only soldier on from here, so I am not going to fret about it.

Until next time, be happy!
