The girls wanted to go swimming again in the morning when we got up so Jason and I took them down there.
He got in the pool with them and I just watched from the sidelines.
This place has a really large hot tub - it's great.
It's a really nice pool too.
We really don't have to plan anything else when we come to the city, if there is a pool at the hotel, that's all the entertainment the girls need.
Then they had a soak in the hot tub.
The way Freya was sitting and then the angle I took the picture from made her look like she had a teeny tiny body.
It just cracked me up.
So Zepplyn wanted to try it.
Now they are both doing it.
Then we headed over to the Terry Fox run.
The traffic was crazy so we got there with only minutes to spare before it started.
Writing up our tags for who we are running for - I always put my Meme (my Dad's mom).
There was a big poster board that you could write the names on so we did that too.
It turned out to be a really nice day and there were a lot of people there.
They always have a guest speaker talk about there own cancer journey which is normally very emotional.
Some of our crew.
The rest of them.
Then they always do a guided warm up.
Inventing her own exercises.
Then we were off.
The plan was that I was going to run and Jason was going to stay with the girls.
When I took off to run, the girls wanted to come with me so I let them.
They have these signs all along the route.
We managed to run about 2 k but the girls were really not wanting to run so I asked Jason to catch up with us so he could stay with the girls and I went on ahead and ran.
I did the whole 10k route, I did have to stop and walk a couple times at a couple hills.
I ran into Jason and the girls on my way back (it's an out and back route) so they made it pretty far.
I left them again and ran finished, then I walked back to meet up with Jason and the girls and met them coming back over the bridge.
I encouraged them to run the rest of the way to the finish line since they were almost there then I ran on ahead so I could get some video of it.
Finish Line - Terry Fox Run 2024
They had an example of one of Terry's legs there that you could look at and hold to see how heavy it was so Freya checked it out.
Now that I've actually run a marathon myself, I have a better understanding of how amazing what Terry did actually was.
He ran a marathon distance every single day.
I ran a marathon one day and could barely even move for a week afterwards.
We did it!
Folks with cancer that run the Terry Fox run get these red t-shirts and this quilt was made with the t-shirts of one particular runner from over the years because they do change the t-shirt design each year.
What a great idea.
These are some of the pictures that Jason took on the run.
We ran along the river and it's a pretty area of Edmonton.
I think the girls enjoyed themselves.
Zepplyn must have taken this picture.
Before the run - Haylee and Zepplyn.
Haylee and Crystal.
Crossing the bridge.
Freya rocking her noodle shirt - she got it yesterday at the food festival they went too.
Posing.
Checking out the river.
The finish line is so close.
Crystal took this picture.
It was another great experience and I'm pretty sure it's going to be an annual event for us.
Haylee really wanted to try Ethiopian food so that's where we headed next.
We ordered this platter, it's different lentil dishes, potatoes, salad greens and you get injera bread with it.
We also ordered a couple meat dishes to go along with it and it is really good.
The service was terrible though - I'm not sure if we'll go back.
The girls didn't really like the food.
Freya was making a snack for Jason with the leftovers.
Oh yum.
She was very particular about where she was placing everything.
Then Jason had to eat it.
From there we parted ways, Haylee, Crystal and Zepplyn headed home and Freya wanted to come with us.
We had to stop and get a few things and Freya picked out this giant Stitch stuffie from Costco.
She zonked out on the drive home pretty much as soon as we hit the road.
Freya decided that she wanted to spend the night but Kody came over to visit with her for a bit and he brought Eden with him.
She's always so happy!
This is another picture of the girls at the food festival they went to yesterday - Crystal took this picture.
That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
