Farrow, Taste of Persia and Ocie Elliott (Sept.28, 2024)

I'm still hoping to be able to run the half marathon when we go to Minnesota next month so I wanted to get out for a longer run this morning.

Jason is going to be doing a full marathon so he wanted to get a run in this morning to so we were up early and headed out.

It turned out to be just a gorgeous day.

I worked these stairs into my route just because I think they are a good workout.

It's so hard to come up those stairs.

But so worth the view and the feeling of accomplishment when you make it to the top.

I ended up running just about 10k and I was proud of myself.
It was really hard though and it made me realize that I'm not prepared to run a half marathon so I asked Jason if he could get me switched over to the 10k.

I met up with him on Walter Dale Bridge as he was finishing his run and we walked back up the hill together.

We stopped in at Farrows and got sandwiches for breakfast/lunch.

I got the roast beef one with horseradish aioli that I always get and Jason got a veggie one that I never would have ordered on my own but it was fantastic.
They make such good sandwiches - I highly recommend.

They have some cool artwork/murals in the store too.

Then we walked to the bakery across the street for a sweet treat.
We shared a croissant type pastry with a cream cheesy filling - yumm-o!

They have a sweet mural in their store as well.

We spent the day doing some shopping then we found a new spot to try out for supper called Taste of Persia.
The restaurant was really beautiful inside, nice and clean.
The staff were very friendly too.

This is what I ordered.

This is what it looked like.
It was unlike anything I've ever had before - really good.

Then this sounded interesting to me so I ordered it for us to try.

It didn't look the best but the flavors were so good - strong and bold and so tasty.

Then Jason is a lamb shank fan so this is what he ordered.

He got a lot of lamb so it was a really great value and it was tender, melt in your mouth.
His rice had a dill flavor and it was really good too.

We really enjoyed our meal and will definitely be eating here again.

After we ate, we went back to the room, changed and walked over to The Winspear where we had tickets to another show tonight, Ocie Elliot.

It wasn't very far from our hotel and it was a nice evening so the walk over was pleasant.
Saw this Edmonton sign that I never noticed before.

We were up on the top balcony - it was the only two seats left when I went to buy the tickets but we were right at the front of the balcony so the seats were actually pretty good.

There was an opening act, Chris Staples.
He was a singer, song writer that sang his own songs that he'd written and we quite enjoyed him.

Then Ocie Elliott came on.
They are a couple I think that write and sing songs as well.

They are from Vancouver Island - the girl was great at telling stories about the songs, how they were written or came about.
The guy was pretty good at it too actually and their music is nice and soothing.
Very folksy type music which I really seem to be into lately.

It was a great concert - I hate being away from Freya for a whole weekend but I'm glad we had the opportunity to see them.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
