:Our flight to Minnesota was at 9:30 this morning so we dropped the car off at 7 and took the shuttle over to the airport.
We have been using Park2Go the last few trips and we quite like them.
We got through security pretty quickly then were at Chili's having some breakfast.
As you can tell, we are both super happy to be heading out on an adventure.
It was a direct flight to Minneapolis, less than 3 hours and a nice smooth flight, just the way I like them.
Made it!
We got our luggage then headed over to the Car Rental - we booked with Dollar this time - they are kind of combined with Hertz & Thrifty and the line up was so long.
They only had 1 guy working on the Dollar/Thrifty line and two working on just the Hertz line.
Finally another worker came out and she started taking from both lines which they should have been doing all along.
It was kind of irritating that we had to wait so long but we did finally get it and we were on our way.
We got a Chevy Malibu - it's what we got last time as well.
It's a pretty good car - for some reason my Android Auto won't sync up with it - same thing happened in Las Vegas - I think it might have something to do with using the Airalo ESimm but we just use the GPS directly from the phone and that works.
We remembered to take a picture of the license plate for hotel registration.
After we checked in, we wanted to get out and go for a walk and get a bite to eat.
This wall with the sheet music on it looked cool.
There are actually quite a few tall buildings in Minneapolis.
Minneapolis is full of pedways just like Calgary so you can get around downtown easily without having to go outside in bad weather.
We ate at Hell's Kitchen last time we came to Minneapolis 10 years ago and we loved it.
I still think about how delicious their lemon ricotta pancakes were.
I will agree that it absolutely is damn good food.
It wasn't very busy which was good for us.
I LOVE MPLS
I decided to try a mocktail - it was cistrus-y but also quite bitter - I didn't love it but I drank it anyway.
It was happy hour and they had deep fried cheese curds so we got those to try and they were very yummy.
Last time we were there we tried the sausage bread and we loved it.
It came with home made peanut butter and a few other dips.
This time it only came with the peanut butter and I don't know if they changed anything else up on it but I didn't enjoy it as much as I did last time.
It was still good.
They had a wild rice dish that looked interesting so we tried it.
It was full of nuts which I love so I really enjoyed it.
Then I decided to try the Ham & Pear Sandwich.
It was just ok for me.
The seasoned fries it came with were fantastic though.
Jason got the lemon ricotta pancakes and they were just as melt in your mouth wonderful as I remember, maybe even better.
I would fly all the way to Minneapolis just to have this dish.
After we ate, we walked around the city to check it out.
The weather was nice so lots of folks were sitting out having drinks and dinner.
It's a very nice, clean city from what we could see.
Very quiet as well, not many people around.
Have you ever seen such a clean city?
Gorgeous old building.
Just from another angle.
We found directions to the Sculpture Park and headed that way and it took us through this walkway.
Love the artwork on the ground.
The walkway was all lined with trees and it looked really pretty.
Love the trees.
It led us through a park
I love these urban parks where it's all green grass and trees but you can still see the buildings off on the outskirts of the park.
There were some pretty little buildings in the park like this one.
I just love the ivy climbing up the side of this one.
Some of the flowers are even still in bloom here.
That ornate top of the building in the background there is so nice.
Rays of sunshine - so nice.
We came across a lake and there was a tree there just covered with birds.
They suddenly all flew up and around and around a few times before landing back in the tree and it was cool to witness.
There is that building that I noticed the top of from afar - I love the color of the roof - it's the same as the Statue of Liberty.
There were squirrels all over the place.
They were fat and slow - like they were well fed.
The over pass that crosses the highway and leads to the sculpture garden.
There was a great view of that building again.
We could see the giant blue rooster off in the distance.
On one of the posts on the bridge.
Lots of Canadian Geese around.
The giant spoon bridge.
We walked around the park and we were trying to take pictures from all different angles to see which angle gave us the best picture.
LOVE
Bunny on a Bell.
Close up picture of the blue rooster.
Cool horse sculpture.
Yet another view of the spoon bridge.
My Honey and I.
So many pictures of this building - the roof is so pretty.
I think this is the best view.
Other sculptures in the garden.
Huge hand.
Striking a pose.
Split personality?
Hiding inside.
Pretty trees up on the hill.
There were some beautiful homes next to the sculpture garden.
They were gigantic.
We saw some black squirrels - we've seen them somewhere before but I can't remember where.
Walking back through the park, the sun was getting ready to set and it looked so nice shining off of the water.
There was a little cafe in the park but it was closed.
I just loved the porch on it and the big giant tree.
Love the ornate details around the door.
Lots of the old buildings here were like this.
I wonder what the building with the circular top is?
This building looks similar to the Empire State Building.
We stopped in at a Target downtown and looked around a bit.
Picked up some snacks.
Like these cinnamon pistachios that I'd never seen before.
Some yogurt too.
This Nosa yogurt was on sale so we got a couple of flavors - it is delicious yogurt.
That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
