We started the morning off with a swim before we had to check out.
This is the biggest pool I've ever seen at a pool.
They have a nice seating area too with bbq's and campfires.
Looks to be closed up for the season though.
It is such a nice area back here though, I'd come stay here anytime.
Jason was working out so I sat in the hot tub and waited for him.
Look at all that sunshine on my shoulder.
It's shaping up to be another gorgeous day.
We loaded up the car then I had a chance to walk around and have a look at the property in the daylight.
This is the front of the hotel, where you drive up to the lobby area.
Very gorgeous.
It is the Grand Summit Hotel in Attitash, NH.
There looked to be some trails you could go walk on.
This would be a great area to do some biking I think.
Of course there were some beautiful red and orange leaved trees.
You have to drive up this long driveway to get here from the road.
Just another view of the front of the hotel,
It was huge.
There was a gazebo - I'm thinking they likely do weddings here.
Aren't these red shrubs fantastic?
The yellow tree isn't bad either.
We talked to the groundskeepers for a breakfast recommendation and the old fella working suggested the Sunrise Shack so we decided to go there.
Just as we were leaving the young lady groundskeeper shouted to us that we should check out Cathedral Ledge.
She said it was a fairly quick drive and a really great view - one of her favorite places.
So we think we might as well check that out as well while we are here.
We found the Sunrise Shack
It was right along the highway, looks like a place that's been here for a while and it had both tourists and locals.
It was busy so they told us it would be a 20 minute wait so we just walked around the parking lot.
Then before you know it, they were calling us in.
I think we only waited maybe 10 minutes.
It was nice inside, wood walls and wood beams.
Nice and clean.
Jason got the breakfast sandwich - he said it was really great.
I ordered this french toast made with anadama bread (which is bread made with cornmeal and molasses).
I rally just wanted to try it.
I also got sour dough toast and bacon.
I couldn't eat a whole lot because my belly was bugging me but what I did eat was good.
I noticed this Covered Bridge gift shop so of course I had to stop in and check it out.
This house was right beside the covered bridge store and I think it was a Bed & Breakfast - this would be a fun place to stay.
What a setting to have your store in.
It was right over the river.
They had this cutest little red truck at the entrance.
Then all of these flags as you walk back to the store.
This is the view from the store.
Pretty amazing.
I ended up buying a red maple leaf Christmas tree ornament.
This little guy was waiting patiently for his parents in the car.
Next up was Cathedral Lane.
Look at that little red tree peaking through there.
It was quite the drive up to the top - only about 10 minutes but we gained a huge amount of elevation.
That girl was right though - the views were absolutely stunning.
I took a ton of pictures but they just don't do it justice.
People actually rock climb on the rocks around here.
We could see a lake off in the distance.
So pretty.
Jason and I.
We were both taking so many pictures.
Look at all those orange trees.
Even some orange trees up here.
We went to another spot and checked out the view from there.
There was no fence along here so that made me a little nervous,
I think this view point is the best one we've ever seen.
There are trails all over the place here through the woods, tons of places to hike.
If we lived nearby I'd be up here all the time.
We took the Kancamagus highway back to Lincoln and stopped there for a little break from driving.
We got a close up of the bear carving.
We walked up to an ice cream stand we saw.
They had maple self serve ice cream.
And cider donuts as well.
We got the donuts - they weren't that good.
Jason got a maple soft serve - it was good.
I got sugar free turtle - not that good.
This was the view while we ate our ice cream.
Pretty.
We made our way back to Manchester and stayed at the Hilton again, this time our room was up on the 6th floor and we had a much better view than last time.
This is a pretty city.
The hotel clerk told us that Manchester strangely enough is known for chicken tenders, they are kind of a thing around here.
So we found this place, Charlies, that apparently has the best chicken tenders around.
They had them breaded in all different things - I wanted to try the ritz and Jason picked the Captain Crunch.
They did have all kinds of awards it looks like for best chicken tenders.
Voted best chicken tenders of 2025.
It was busy there so they do seem popular.
They didn't really do it for Jason and I unfortunately.
They were ok, but by far not the best we've ever had.
It was a nice clear evening so after we ate, we went for a walk.
This was down by the river.
These steps were all painted - it looked nice.
The river was pretty fast moving.
There are lots of bridges across the river here.
There was a walkway all along the river and it was lit up so we walked along that.
The founder of video games was from Manchester.
There are tons of huge brick buildings here.
They used to be textile mills but now the industry is geared toward the medical industry.
Like the make prosthetics here and lots of other medical things.
(the lady at Slightly Crooked Pies told us that the other day).
I love the ivy growing up the building.
I like the shape of the windows at the top of this building.
You can see that the inside of the building is all brick too.
Pretty amazing.
They are just everywhere around here.
I love them.
I love this window display - the blue lights would go on and off - made it kind of spooky.
They had this spooky skeleton out front too.
This is the nicest street to walk along (according to a couple we passed on the road) so we wanted to walk along it.
The top of this place was lit up.
Cool mural.
I like how they painted this post.
Manchester mural.
We stopped at Insomnia cookies for a treat before heading back to the hotel.
Jason went for a run later and saw this under a bridge - what a great idea.
I printed off one of Freya's drawings and he took it with him and found a spot to stick it.
Finally - we've been wanting to do this forever.
We went for a swim and a dip in the hot tub when Jason got back from his run.
I worked on my travel journal and my blog while he was gone.
That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
