Jason was up early to get ready this morning, he had to be at the Start line for 7am.
I took a picture of him before he headed out, I guess I must have still been sleeping, it's pretty blurry.
Lining up to start the run.
It was the largest run he has ever been in.
And they were off.
Jason was near the back so it took him about 8 minutes to actually cross the start line after the official start.
It started to thin out eventually and he was able to make some ground up.
They ran next to the river.
And through the streets of town.
Back at the room, I got ready, had some breakfast then I looked up directions to the Finish Line - I wanted to be there when Jason crossed it.
He was running 21k and he figured it would take him between 1:45 and 2 hours.
The start line was right by our hotel and I thought it was just an out and back but turns out it was a point to point and the finish line was in a park, just a 7 minute drive away but a 1 hour, 20 minute walk.
So I couldn't walk and make it there in time so I got a Uber.
With the road closures, the drive took longer than normal so I was worried I wouldn't make it in time but I did.
I found a good spot by the Finish line and waited for Jason to come through.
There were lots of runners coming through.
It was right around 1:46 so it was getting close.
I didn't have to wait too long before I saw him.
Here he is crossing the Finish Line.
He now has 4 half marathons and 4 full marathons under his belt.
I'm so proud of him.
His medal.
Jason wanted to stretch out his legs a bit so we decided to walk the hour and some back to the hotel.
There are already flowers blooming here.
Saw a perfectly good chair in the garbage.
A mural we saw along the way.
We stopped at a coffee spot to use the washroom and get a coffee.
Happened upon these giant glasses.
We came to this neat part of town.
This might be an interesting show to go see.
I like this sculpture - a Fireman and his dog.
We were both hungry so we stopped at the restaurant, Edison's.
I really liked the gallery walls they had.
There were a few of them.
The whole restaurant had a nice feel to it.
My Honey
We got these honey buns, they were fresh and warm and sweet.
Very good.
I got this beet and brussels sprout salad.
The brussels sprouts were raw which was odd to me, I didn't care for it.
Jason got the butter burger with truffle fries, it was good.
Nice sign.
Random mural.
It turned into a really lovely day, nice for exploring.
We passed by the public market so we popped in and got a couple cookies.
A couple of Love Birds.
We went back to the room so Jason could get a shower and change and we had a rest.
We also tried our peanut butter cookie.
And the German Chocolate cake we'd picked up at the market.
After a rest, we headed back out to check out a museum.
We checked out this exhibit.
An old rail car.
It had all these examples of what different houses would look like.
This girl was kind of creepy looking.
A bartender.
Some interesting old toys.
There was lots of interesting things on display.
What a creepy looking doll.
Butterflies and other insects.
Some were huge and scary looking.
Itty bitty baby owl.
Giant fish.
Little monkey.
There were lots of taxidermy on display.
Gorilla,
Skeleton of an ape or gorilla.
Some examples of first man then more common man.
Dinosaur skull.
T-rex attacking another dinosaur.
Kind of gruesome for a kid to see.
A dinosaur that scientists think may have been covered with feathers.
Creepy death doll.
Super cool diorama.
They were so detailed.
Gladiator in a chariot.
So many interesting things to see at a museum.
Pretty amazing what people were able to create hundreds of years ago.
So colorful.
Scary masks.
We stayed right until it closed at 6 pm.
It was a great museum.
We went to Calderone Club for supper.
Our waiter was on older guy, he was very good, very friendly.
It was crazy busy in there, we were lucky to get a table.
We shared a pepperoni pizza.
Then I had the lobster ravioli.
Jason had spaghetti and meatballs.
We shared a Tiramisu for dessert.
The food was good, the ambience of the restaurant was fantastic.
I just love all the old buildings in this city.
They were gorgeous.
The city just has a nice look and feel to it.
I think I could live here easily!
Got all my steps in again.
That's all for today, until next time, be happy.
