We were up early, I grabbed a coffee at the Starbucks across the road then we were off to our hiking/running spot.
I wanted to try a different route today so I took a picture of the map just in case I got lost.
When I did my walk yesterday, I did the same route as the first day but just in the opposite direction and I ended up missing the turn to go back to the starting point and walked about 20 minutes back around part of the loop I'd already walked.
I don't want to make that same mistake today.
We do a little warm up walk together before Jason takes off for his run then I turn my book on.
Having my book to listen to really has me looking forward to these morning walks.
There are just trails criss crossing everywhere.
I found kind of a higher hill and walked up to the top of it just for some extra difficulty and it felt good to get to the top.
Every single morning I had to stop in here and use the bathroom about 20 minutes into my walk.
This is just a close up view of a small part of the map and as you can see, tons of trails.
After our walk, we stopped for breakfast - I forgot to take a picture of their sign but I did get this coffee mug that had their logo on it.
Wonderful Wanda's.
It was crazy busy - they had a really large group that was taking up most of the restaurant but they were still quick at getting our food out to us.
Jason ordered an omelet.
They had corned beef hash so we tried that too.
They had a Cuban sandwich so I got that but it was not what I was expecting and I honestly didn't like it that much.
We went back to the hotel to clean up and change then headed to Scottsdale to rent some bikes.
He gave us a lock and some directions and sent us on our way.
I took a picture of the combination so I wouldn't forget it.

We just followed the trail - we didn't really have any destination in mind.
These are just some of the sights we saw along the way.
Cool giant bunny!
We ended up in old town Scottsdale.
Just a cool statue along the way.
We found an ice cream spot so you know we stopped there.
Jeni's
We tried Brown Butter Almond Brittle.
Green Smoothie
Blackout Chocolate Cake.
Lemon Bar
We had them in waffle bowls.
Hard ice cream is such a nice treat.
Enjoying a break from the bikes and our ice creams.
We biked all along the canal for a bit then we had to have the bikes back for 5 pm so we headed back that way to return them.
We really enjoyed our bike ride.
For supper Jason found another restaurant with good reviews.
Forefathers.
The do Philly Cheesesteaks.
I like the Americana decor.
We shared a cheesesteak and it was really good and it was enough to satisfy both of us.
Then we headed over to Mesa to check that out since we've never been there.
I love all the palm trees.
We just found a place to park and walked around a bit.
The downtown area was not what I was expecting - it was bigger I guess.
It was nice.
Cool mural on the side of a building down there.
Some kind of sculpture.
Maybe a church?
There were a bunch of really nice statues scattered all over the place in the downtown area.
I think it's more artsy here than I was expecting.
There was a performing arts theater and they looked like they had some great shows playing.
Downtown Mesa
We saw the Dalorian - it likely was a replica.
Still cool there.
More of the statues.
This was children playing ball.
A big pig.
Some of the buildings had colorful murals.
I do love a good mural.
This was a whole wall of them that had the same theme.
A desert scene which is very fitting.
These were all desert themed.
I think mural bring such character to an area.
Paper Boy
A boy and his dog.
ET
Sign Post
Another paper boy - this time the paper delivery boy.
Some random sculptures.
I liked these colorfully lit up ones.
Not sure what it's meant to be but the light was pretty.
Rock climber
Just some larger folks resting.
This is a mural on the side of the building - it looked so funky and realistic.
Playing with an airplane
I think this boy was meant to be catching the plane the other child was throwing.
I love the feeling that all the patio lights envokes.
Whenever I see a patio covered in lights like this, it just makes me want to go sit there.
Some type of Medicine Man I think
Leap Frog.
Cowboy
We passed by this brewery that looked hopping.
As we did, I noticed through the window that they were making pizza and this Goat and Ram place was inside the brewery,
We had worked up a bit of an appetite from all our walking so decided to go in and grab a pizza.
I had to go to the washroom while we were in there and the artwork was so quirky in there that I had to take a picture of it all.
Taking his pet alligator (or crocodile) for a walk.
I don't know if these photos are taken like this or if they creep them up but they are so fun.
Just a guy and his creep puppet.
That mask - ha ha.
This guy is a bit scary.
It was really hard to get a picture of this one without the glare but again, just another cool, creepy picture.
The chandelier outside of the bathrooms was gorgeous.
It was a huge place and it was just packed.
We ordered our pizza then sat at the bar to wait for it - that was the only place open to sit.
The pizza was ok.
I think I liked it more than Jason did.
I wouldn't make a trip back there especially to get the pizza but I would have it again if the opportunity arose.
Another cool mural.
We headed back to the hotel and made use of the hot tub.
Again we were the only ones out there and it was just lovely.
That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
