Last Day in Tucson, Baha Cafe, Lemongrass Restaurant and Gregory Alan Isakov (Feb.3, 2025)

It's our last day in Tucson, we were up early and back out to the trail again.

This is actually part of the Tucson Loop - I didn't realize that.

The loop runs all around the whole city, miles and miles of paved trails - how awesome is that?

Jason set off running.

I did a little running today as well - not very long distances but it's a start!

Not a bad view.

The different cacti are always interesting to me.

After our walk/run - we headed back to our room and packed up.

We had to be out of the room by 11 but we decided to spend some time at the pool before actually leaving.
We just made sure we left out a change of clothing so we'd have something to put on when we were done.

Loving my Stitch slides.

It was such a gorgeous day, I honestly could have stayed at the pool right until supper but we were getting hungry so we decided to go get some lunch.

Jason found this spot - Baha Cafe.

I got the Avocado Toast.

Jason got the Smoked Brisket Machaca

Then we shared this Pineapple Express
It was two buttermilk pancakes loaded with gooey pockets of an orange brown sugar butter and fresh pineapple chunks. Topped with a vanilla bean cream cheese glaze and whipped cream.

It was heavenly - I would drive long distances just to have this again.

There was this place right across the parking lot that had some old punch buggies out front.

There was a Volkswagon van too - I would love to have one of these.

Random murals we saw.

Hippie Gypsy.

The sky was looking very pretty.

We discovered that Tucson had an old town, downtown area so we found a spot to park down there and walked around a bit.
We were actually here at a street market when we were here before but I kind of forgot about it.

Even this car is full of graffiti.

I like the architecture of these buildings.

Ha ha - how clever.

Jason found this spot for us to have some supper that had really good ratings, Lemongrass.

The story about how the restaurant got started was posted on the wall - kind of cool.

We had rice, flat bread and a veggie dish.

It had lots of veggies and a curry coconut type sauce.
It was kind of plain but also very delicious at the same time.

We also shared a mango lassi.

Afterwards we just explored the area.

I love outdoor seating areas with lights like this - such an inviting place to spend a nice warm evening.

I love murals.
This one was so cute.

There is even an Easter Island type statue downtown.

It does have a nice downtown area.

We had a couple cookies at insomnia cookie then eventually made our way to the Linda Ronstadt Music Hall where we were seeing Gregory Alan Isakov in concert tonight - the whole reason we came on the trip in the first place,

We were in the middle of the very last row in the venue.

Luckily it was a smaller venue so it didn't feel that far away at all.

The concert was good, he brought out a few guests including his brother at one point.
He told some stories - I always like that part.
His music is very soothing too.

The lighting wasn't very great but I think that was on purpose.
It was called An Intimate Evening with Gregory Alan Isakov.

It was always smoky and very dark - very moody.

But overall, an enjoyable concert.

After the concert we had to make the nearly 2 hour drive from Tucson to Phoenix.
We are staying there tonight as we fly out tomorrow - we figured we'd rather stay up late tonight and get the drive over with than to get up super early in the morning and have to do the drive then.

We picked a hotel near the airport and booked (and paid) for it online.
When we got there, she told us that the elevator was broken and that we were on the 4th floor - was that ok?
Like we had a choice.
So Jason had to carry both of our suitcases up four flights of stairs - kind of sucked but he did it.

We had to repack everything and get ready for the flight.
We weren't flying out super early thankfully because it was pretty late by the time we crawled into bed.

Jason does all the Instagram posting now for our trips and it's a chance for me to see some of the pictures he takes - he has a great eye.
Plus his little write ups always crack me up.

A mural he noticed somewhere along our travels that I didn't notice.

And another.

I remember this mural from out last trip.

Jason said this was above the urinal in a bathroom that he used at some point on our trip.
Ha ha ha.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
