Play Park Fun Cut Short (Jan.11, 2026)

Crystal and Zepplyn are in the city so we had planned on meeting them at the playpark around 11:30 but we only ended up making it there around 2 pm.

The girls had another rough night, coughing and hacking and stuff so I let them sleep in quite late again.

I think they really need the sleep.

We went to a play park just outside of St Albert called U Play.
Eden was loving it, she was moving so fast it was hard to get a picture of her.

Freya really liked this bar that you walked across, it rolled but there were ropes you could hold onto to get across.
It took her a couple tries but she was doing it like a pro in no time.

Eden was gung ho to give it a try.
She fell but she didn't care, she was up and trying it again in an instant.

It's a nice play park, it had this really cool slide.

It had a huge play structure with all kinds of different obstacles and things.

There was a toddler area that Eden loved and she was having a great time there but we had to cut it short because Freya ended up getting sick in the bathroom.

She wasn't feeling the best and was just sitting beside the toddler area when she got sick again - she was trying to contain it in her hands and I knew we couldn't get her to the bathroom so I gave her my hoodie to be sick in.
Thankfully it was mostly contained in my hoodie - she did get it on herself and her clothes and hands so I took her in the bathroom and cleaned her up but then I figured that we better go.

Crystal had gotten tickets for her, Zepplyn and Freya to see the Harlem Globetrotters at 3 today at Roger's Place.
I didn't think Freya should go but she insisted that she wanted to so she went with Crystal and Eden and I headed back to St Albert to do some shopping.

We met up with Mom and Jen and did some shopping at Costco, Homesense and Walmart.
I bought myself a new suitcase.
It's a mustard yellow color so it will be easy to spot on the luggage carousel but I'm not 100% decided if I want to keep it or not yet.
It's a hard case, a Brit Bag - Jason has one and he really likes it.

When we finished up shopping, I grabbed some supper at Tim Horton's then we parked there to wait for Crystal.
Even though Freya had gone with them to the show, she still wanted to drive back home with me.

She got there around 6 and we headed home.
Moose activity on the highway has been really high the past few weeks so I was on high alert.
I did see one running alongside the highway that I had to slow down for.
It was mild all day so things had melted and now that it was cooling down for the night, things were getting slippery again.
So I just drove slowly, around 80km/hr for a lot of the drive.
I came upon two more moose right at the edge of the highway and this truck decided to pass me right at the moment.
Thank goodness the moose didn't come onto the road or I would have had nowhere to go.

We watched the trucks tail lights as it passed us by then suddenly we saw them veer to the right and go off into the ditch.
We thought maybe they'd hit a moose but when we got up to it, there was just some snow piled up on the road in a few spots and I think he might have just got caught in it and was pulled into the snow.

I stopped to make sure everyone was ok, it was an older guy and he was just fine.
He was more concerned with getting his truck out than anything else.
I called 911 and they said they'd send someone out just to make sure all was good.

I did offer to try to squeeze him into the car even though we were very full but he said he was fine, he was going to call AMA to get a tow and he could wait in his truck so we left him.

The RCMP did call me later after I got home to let me know they'd checked on him.
Someone was there and going to give him a ride home and the tow truck was going to get there around 2:30 am.
So all was good.

The girls really wanted to come to our place to play with Papa so they did that while I unpacked everything.
I think they would have stayed again had we let them but we both have work in the morning.

We drove them home then Jason and I went for a walk so I could get the rest of my steps in - it was a gorgeous evening, mild and no wind at all.
Very nice for a walk.

I did manage to reach my step goal for the day.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy.
