8K Run, Kazoku Ramen and Fantasy Land Hotel (Aug.5, 2022)

I got to sleep in this morning and I loved it!

Morgan was out and about shopping this morning and she saw this little book she thought Freya and I would enjoy.

We are heading into the city later today so I got out this morning (a bit later than I wanted) to get my run in.

I had 8k to do today.
I decided to do the highway route today, I haven't done it in a while - I figured it would be good for me to get those steep hills in for some extra practice.

My exercise details and average heart rate.

My average pace and splits.

Video check in for today.

Turns out that we are going to take Freya with us to the city so no movie for us tonight but that's ok.
Spending time with Freya is super fun.
It was close to 3 by the time we headed in to the city so it was after 5 when we got there.

We made one quick stop at Homesense and The Party Store then we went and got some supper.

Freya loves noodles so we decided to go for ramen at our favorite spot, Kazoku Ramen.
It was super busy in there.

She loves making silly faces when I'm trying to take a picture.

Practicing her chopstick skills.

They have the best ramen here.
Not only does Freya love the noodles, she loves the eggs too.
She ate both mine and Jason's

Ha ha - she makes the best faces.

Helping Papa clean up after eating.

After we ate, we headed over to the mall.
Jason booked us a room at the FantasyLand hotel in the West Edmonton Mall.
We checked in then went out in the mall to do some shopping.

It was close to 8 and everything in the mall closes at 9 so we didn't have much time but I was able to grab some energy gummies and gu packs from Sport Check.

I looked at the AlphaFly's too but I couldn't bring myself to spend $300.00 on a new pair so I guess I'll be wearing the ones I have for the marathon.

Then I got Jason and I each a cinnamon roll from Cinnabon (I think it's actually called something else now) on the way back to the room.

It was delicious.
Freya really liked them too.

We just hung out in the room and played games with Freya for the rest of the evening.
She just loves being in a hotel no matter what we are doing so she was happy.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Feels Like Fall Out There (Aug.4, 2022)

 It's my Friday - Yay!

I worked on Monday which was a holiday so that I could take tomorrow off instead.

Jason worked on Monday and he's off tomorrow so I traded in order to spend some time with him.

I think we are going to head to the city for a night and see a movie.

I had 8k to run today so I headed out on my lunch hour to do that.
It was chilly out there - I had to wear long leggings and a sweater.
Please don't let summer be over yet.

I did a quick loop around the top part of town then finished off by doing about 9 times around the park.
It has a nice, cushiony walkway I thought would be good for my groin issue.

My exercise details and average heart rate.

My average pace and splits.
I don't think I can go any faster due to my groin bothering me but that's ok -  I think if I can maintain around an 8.0 minutes per km for the marathon then I'll be happy with that.

My video check in for today.

Crystal picked some Saskatoon berries at her parents and brought them to Jason so he made her a pie this morning.
I went over and dropped it off to their place after work.

We decided to wait and go to the city tomorrow night and so Kody and Freya came over for a visit and Freya ended up staying to spend the night.

She loves watching creepy videos on YouTube and found one where a swing was swinging but there was nobody was on it and she thought that was just great.

So we got out the rocking chair and tied a string to it so we could show her how to make the rocking chair move when nobody was sitting on it.
So it looked like a ghost was doing it.

+
Ghost rocking chair.
It actually worked pretty well and she thought it was great.

She has such a wild imagination - she's always thinking up these games for us to play.
She'll say 'pretend I'm a ____ and you are a _____ and you saw me and you were doing such and such, okay, do it'
It's so funny.
She'll say Do It, DO IT!
She gets very insistent.
Then once we do it, she wants to do it again.

In this case, she was pretending that she was a creepy doll and Jason was the Dad and I was the Mom and we were scared of her.

Now she's a Creepy Doll come to life.

Jason put the box my cutting mat came in to good use - made a life size person for Freya.
She's dancing with him here.

Next up - she wanted to do a 'sperment' (experiment).
So she and Jason made tapioca slime.

This kid loves all things messy, especially slime!
Grandma on the other hand doesn't like it that much but as long as no more ends up on my ceiling, I'm ok with it.

We let her have her fun with it but then it gets thrown out right afterwards.

Saw this post and I thought it was funny.
I'm not against the LGBTQ+ community or anything just to be clear, I do think it's ok to find humor in things.

The Adventures of Papa & Freya and Ginger Beef Craving (Aug.3, 2022)

I didn't get a whole heck of a lot of sleep last night so when I woke up for work, I was super tired.

I hated leaving - when I woke up, Freya did too and she curled right into me and said 'Snuggle me Grandma' - I would have loved to stay there and snuggle her all day.

Alas, I did have to go to work so Papa took over the snuggling duties.

After their little sleep in, they were out and about and Jason sent me pictures from their adventures all day long.
This is her being a baby vampire.

Helping Papa out and carrying his backpack for him.

She loves going to the coffee shop at the hardware and playing with some of the toys that are there.
She and Jason spend a lot of time there.

Watering everything EXCEPT the flowers.

Trying to get Papa with the garden hose.

She got some new slime/play dough and of course she loves it.

We had lunch at the office to celebrate John's 65th birthday.
John, Blair and Murray.

Tom and Scott.

Shennelle and I.
She ordered fried chicken and a couple of salads - it was really good.

She also ordered this cake.
Notice anything strange?

They forgot the 'r' in birthday so when we sang to John, we sang 'Happy Bithday to you".
It was kind of funny.

Freya was still there when I got home from work so she, Jason and I went to the store to look for something for supper.

As we were walking around Freya kept putting all kinds of random stuff in the cart, like dog food, Vim, pork chops, baby wipes, whatever she could get her hands on.

Then she'd say 'That was so satisfying'

Ha ha ha, she cracks me up.

I kept trying to put things back but she didn't want me to so Jason distracted her at the gumball machine so I could go unload the cart.

We didn't find anything we felt like cooking and I was kind of in the mood for ginger beef so we decided to go out for supper.

She was so happy because she got some slime - It was actually a squishy ball from the gumball machine at the store but she ripped it open and got the slime out.
She just loves tearing things apart .

Her creepy, scary face.

Kody had just gotten home from work so I asked him to come join us for supper and he did.

Freya and Papa.

We ordered her some fries because that's what she asked for.
The waitress said she likes rice and she was right because she pretty much ate all of Jason's rice off his plate.

I got my ginger beef that I wanted - it was good too.

Freya wanted to go home with Kody after supper so she did.

We are planning on heading to the city for a night this weekend so we asked Kody if we could take Freya and if he wanted to possibly come too and he said he might.

I hope he does, it will be nice to spend some time with him.

I ordered a new cutting mat - the biggest one I could find for a reasonable price.

I wanted it for my desk because the top is plywood and it's kind of rough so this will be a better surface to work on.

It arrived today - it only took days to get here - I'm impressed.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Bad Egg, Happy 65th and Our Girl is Back! (Aug.2, 2022)

It was back to work at my real office this morning.

It's like rotating vacationer's over here - half the office is back from their vacations but now the other half are gone.

So it is still really quiet around here - I expect it will be like this until summer is over.

I was planning on running outside at lunch time and getting my 8k done but when I went outside, it was super windy so I decided to hop on the treadmill instead.

It's a good thing I did too because (and this may by TMI) but I had to go to the bathroom several times just within the first few minutes and then lots more throughout the workout.

I buy these hard boiled eggs from the store for my morning break sometimes and I think the one I had this morning was bad.

I cut them into 4 and the first section I ate kind of tasted off so I had a second and realized that it definitely was not good.

So I threw the rest of it away and I'm not sure if it would have caused an upset belly that quickly but whatever the reason, I was on and off the treadmill using the washroom for the entire workout.

So it wasn't the best workout - my left groin is bothering me too so I had to take it slow so I did that.

It ended up taking me an hour and 7 minutes to complete the 8k (5 miles) but I got it done.

Tomorrow is a rest day and I am totally looking forward to it.
I'm going to be really good about resting too - I don't want an injury this close to the marathon.

Hard to believe that the countdown is on - only 18 days away!

My video check in for today.

One of our co-workers - John- turns 65 tomorrow so we decorated his office up for him at the end of the day.

I made a sign that says

"Happy Birthday You Old Geezer"

Then I printed off 65 of them and Shennelle and I hung them all over his office.

Then Elmo is at his front door too with a big sign that says 65!

When I got home, I finished up my reindeer.
I just had to finish painting the eyes, drill holes and glue in the antlers and add the bows.
I like how they turned out - may make a few more.

Paddington was sitting beside me on the couch and looking out the window making all kinds of strange noises so I tried to capture it on a video.

There was a bird out there - he loves watching them.

Great entertainment for a kitty cat.

When Jason got home, he went for a long bike ride then he texted Kody to see if he could pick Freya up and spend the day with her tomorrow since he's on days off now.

Turns out Kody had to go to work at 7:30 so they figured it would be easier if Freya just came and spent the night instead of having to wake her up that early so Kody brought her over.

Cuddling with Papa.

We were so happy to see her - She was gone since last Thursday - that's a long time for us to go without seeing her.

Looks like Paddington has his eyes on Jason's popcorn but really I think he's keeping a close eye on Freya.
Normally he goes and hides as soon as she comes in but he was comfortable on Jason's lap so he didn't want to move but he's not letting her out of his sight.
I think if she even looks at him, he'll be off like a light looking for a place to hide.

Alivia randomly sent me this list of things that she wants (her birthday is coming up right away).
She also sent a message saying that I don't have to get all of it, it's just for ideas.
I thought it was so funny but I do appreciate it.
I was planning on going shopping this weekend for all the upcoming birthdays and I would rather get them something they want so this will be perfect.

I'm in the crafting mood so I was looking for labels for tin cans.
I thought this one was cute.

A laugh for the day.
