I was up and out of the room early this morning so I could get myself a coffee and egg bites from Timmies then be to the spill exercise location by 7 am for registration.
The exercise is basically just a way for WCSS to show the member companies all of the equipment they have and how to use it.
The trainers were showing some of the different anchors here.
There was a new trainer at this exercise that I'd never met before - all the other guys I've known for years now - they are all very nice.
We had a couple of the boats out today too - some of the lucky attendees will get to go out on those today, it's a great day for it.
It was a really pretty spot to have the exercise - I've never been down close to the Peace River before.
It started off cold this morning but was warming up nicely.
The water kept rising over the course of the day and they ended up having to move the trailer later on to keep it out of the water.
You can see in this picture how much the water has risen.
Chris and Amy
The bridge over the river in the background there - it's been under construction for as long as I've been travelling this way to visit Jason's parents (they are another 40 minutes further out).
Explaining how the boom works.
I'm not sure why but I always find this stuff really interesting.
We did the exercise with one group of participants this morning then after lunch we did the whole thing again with another group.
By the afternoon out the sun was out in full force and it was just lovely.
Moi.
Just looking across at the other side of the river.
One of the guys there was a photographer and took some pictures that he shared with me.
He managed to snap a great one of this eagle flying by overhead.
As soon as the exercise was over I hit the road and headed straight home.
We are heading to the city for the night tonight as we are flying out to Las Vegas tomorrow.
I got home not long after Jason did and I packed then we stopped by Kody and Haylee's to say good bye to the kids.
I took Freya over her roller skates that I ordered for her - they arrived at the office yesterday so I stopped by on my way home to get them.
Eden gravitates to Jason - she is always so excited to see him.
We always miss the kids so much when we are gone - it's really the only 'bad' thing about travelling.
We will enjoy our trip but we will also be happy to get back home and see the kids.
It was late when we got to the city so we just checked into our room and pretty much just went to bed.
We only fly out later in the afternoon but Jason wants to go for a long run in the morning and I'm thinking of going for a run as well.
That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
