New Book and Off to Calgary (May 4, 2025)

Jason stopped doing bbq's on Sunday's at work but today since it had been so long, they decided to do one.

There was a lot of meat on the menu!

He made a salad too - it looks more delicious to me than all that meat.
Just looks so fresh!

I spent the morning packing for two trips.

I also got my taxes filed, booked mom's trip to PEI for the summer and put a bunch of laundry away that mom had washed for me.

Very productive.

I'm heading to Calgary today for work for a few days then Wednesday night I'm heading to Edmonton to meet Jason at the airport and we are flying out to Toronto for a few days - it was my birthday present from him.

I promised Freya that we'd go to the park before I took her home so we stopped down there.
We tried out the exercise equipment then we tried out stuff all over the park and she was happy when I took her home.
We only had about 20 minutes because I was trying to get on the road by noon.
She was a little upset when I left because she knew that I was going to be gone for a few days and I hate leaving her.
I promised her I'd bring her back something - she requested I bring her an outfit and Jason bring her a toy.
Then she wanted me to get Eden a toy and Jason to get her an outfit.

I hit the road for Calgary which is about a 5 hour drive and started my new Audible book for the drive.
I got A Court of Thorns & Roses as per Cecilia Bloomdahl's recommendation (a vlogger that I watch) and I am really enjoying it.
I followed my gps and it took me on a side highway and I really enjoyed the drive although I was getting sleepy and had to stop in Rimbey for a bathroom break and just to stretch my legs.

I made it to the hotel right around 6 - I'm staying at the Residence Inn - It's where I always stay when I come to Calgary for work and it is a really nice hotel.

It has a little sectional in the living room.

And a full size kitchen.

Even a dining room table.
After I checked in, I found a nearby grocery store and drove there to get a few groceries to have in the room.
The grocery store was near a river and it looked like a really nice area so I decided to go for a walk.
I left my phone in the car but I wish I'd had it with me - I went into this residential area and the homes were basically like mansions.
So beautiful.

I picked up some fruit and drinks, dropped it back to the room then went out for a little walk to get the rest of my steps in.

This bench was outside of a restaurant - it looks like a couch - isn't that neat?

Giant mural I passed.

There are kind of sketchy areas around the hotel but there are also some really nice areas - lots of restaurants.
I'd like to come back with Jason some time and check some of them out.

After my walk, I spent the rest of the evening hanging out in my room and watching some YouTube.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy.
