Sun & Sand Miami Day Four (Feb.23, 2019)

Since it's Saturday, I googled Farmer's Markets around Miami.
This one looked interesting so we decided to head over there.

This guy for some reason just decided to stand in the middle of the street while cars were trying to get by.
Wouldn't budge an inch either.

Looks like they were shooting a movie here.

We made it to the Coconut Grove area but we had a heck of a time finding a place to park.
We finally found a little parking lot but you had to pay cash and we had none on us.
I sat and waited while My Honey went to look for a bank machine.

It was a cute little area, lots of restaurants with outdoor eating areas.

Punch buggy yellow!

When My Honey got back, we decided to get something to eat before heading to the market.

We googled best places near by  and this place popped up.
Lokal Burger Bar

They had a fish dip so you know we ordered that!

I thought this itty bitty tabasco sauce was so cute!

My burger was really good.

It had hickory sticks on it - yummy!

I love how they branded it with their name - what a great idea!

Smile!

They had Tres Leches cake so you know I had to try it.
They had fruit, whipped cream and caramel added - It was pretty delightful.

I thought the prices were reasonable.

We left there and walked over to where the Farmers Market was.

There's something about Farmer's Markets that I just love.
I think partially it's because they are a nice weather, summer activity.

They had some beautiful orange beets.

It ended up being a fairly small market - lots of veggies and a few other hand crafted items.
We enjoyed walking around and looking but we left empty handed.

There was a milkshake place next to the burger place we'd eaten at so we walked back there to check it out.

It was so cool.
It looked like a kitchen straight out of the 60's.

Just look at that wall paper!

They had old appliances in there.

Even an old fashioned, crazy ugly floor.

They had cool names for their shakes.

We tried the Golden Girl which came complete with a Golden Girl trading card.

From there we headed to the lighthouse at Key Biscayne that our food tour guide Alex had told us about the other day.

Doesn't that water look so pretty?

We found the park, rented a couple of bikes then headed out in search of the lighthouse.

It wasn't as easy to find as you would think being as tall as it was.

We parked our bikes and My Honey climbed up to the top.
I thought I should stay with the bikes.

Besides, it looked pretty daunting from way down here.

My curious side won over thankfully and I decided to go up and check it out.
It was a spiral staircase all the way to the top and it was very rickety but I made it.
The climb to the top was tough but the view was worth it.

You could circle right around so you could take in the view to all directions.
There was a beach just down below us.

and you could see downtown Miami off in the distance.

So pretty.

I was proud of myself for making the climb!

I stayed there and soaked it in for a few minutes before making my way back down.
Then we hopped back on the bikes and went off in search of the bike trails.

Drove by this fellow in the parking lot area.

I just had to stop and get his picture.

When he turned toward me it spooked me a little so I knew the photo session was over!
It didn't take me long to hop on my bike and scoot out of there.

We found the bike trail and it was such a lovely day to go for a bike ride.

We followed the trail all the way out to the entrance of the park.

Then we just turned around and headed back.

My bike had a little basket which was a perfect place for my bag.

It was a great work out too.

I had to get My Honey to slow down and let me pass him so I could get this picture of us both.

We passed this cute little restaurant.
If we didn't have to get the bikes back, we probably would have stopped to check it out further.
Our time was almost up though and we wanted to get them back on time.

After we dropped the bikes off, we headed over to the beach I'd seen from up in the lighthouse.

We found ourselves a spot and got ourselves settled.

I'd had the foresight to bring my bathing suit just in case and there was a changing room by the beach so I was able to put it on.
My Honey napped on the beach but I went into the water right away.
It was lovely too - quite a strong current though, I kept drifting down the beach.

After a bit, My Honey went out for a dip.

And I had a turn sitting with our stuff trying to dry off a little before we got in the car.

Walking back to the car, we came across a few more racoons, they are just all over the place here!

After the beach, we headed to Paulie Gee's.
We've been wanting to go since we got here.

The sun makes me so happy - it's just good for the soul.

Looks so nice shining on that building.

I took so many pictures of the city skyline but I just thought it looked so nice.

I bet the places in these buildings have some fabulous views.

We made it to Paulie Gee's and were surprised to find it closed.
There was a man there and he came out to talk to us.
Apparently it just hasn't been doing well and last night they closed the doors for good.
What a bummer!
I felt so bad for him, he was clearly disappointed and we were too.
We really loved the pizza when we went to the one in Brooklyn - Miami is losing a good thing!

Since we weren't far from it we stopped at El Palacio De Los Jugos.

We ordered a Cuban sandwich - it wasn't that good.

We also got some chicharron.
It was a little on the tough side but still delicious.

I had to have the fruit cup and it was fresh and sweet and so, so good.

I noticed they had Tres Leches too so I had to have that.
We shared.
It was so good though that I got another one to take back to the hotel with us.

They had a little outdoor area where we sat to eat.
Every table was full.
I think it's a very popular place among the locals.

We headed back toward the hotel and did a bit of shopping then we made one last restaurant stop for the day.

Black Brick
It's a sister restaurant to Sakaya and it's actually just across the street.

It was featured on Diners, Drive-In's and Dives as well.

It was crazy busy in there.

They were all run off of their feet.
It took forever for them to take our order.

A young girl was having her birthday celebration there and they took up one whole side of the place.

We waited forever for our food too.

I ordered the garlic chicken stir fry - it was really tasty.

My Honey got the Dan Dan Noodles which is what Guy tried when he came.
I don't think it lived up to it's expectations but it was good.

After we ate, we headed back to our room to watch some more Create TV.
Man, we have just been loving this station - it has some really interesting programs.

Back home, Baby F was hanging out with Miss H's parents and they posted these cute pictures of her.

What a big smile.

Want this?

Such a silly hat, looks so cute!

That is about all for today, until next time, be happy!
