We were up and heading to drop off the car by 8:30.
Our flight was at 11 so we wanted to make sure we were there by 9 am.
The airport wasn't that busy so we got through security pretty quickly then we headed to Starbucks for coffees and breakfast.
So excited to be taking our sweet girl on a plane to a vacation in PEI - she's been there before just never with us and I can't wait to share it with her.
Papa wanted in on the selfie too.
We had bagels from Starbucks and I had my Iced Matcha Oat Latte with Lavender Foam.
They are soooo many calories but so worth it.
Made it onto the plane and Freya wanted to take some pictures to capture the moment.
So first she got a shot of Papa.
Then Grandma and Papa together.
Then a selfie of the three of us.
Then finally a selfie of the two of us.
(We picked her up these headphones last night at Walmart for the trip).
We wanted her to have the window seat so she could enjoy the view.
I remember looking down at everything when I was a kid thinking those little teeny cars and houses down there would be so fun to play with.
Awww - She looks so joyful.
Before long, it was time to get out the snackle box - what a great idea that thing was.
We made it, that's PEI down there.
Made it to Charlottetown.
We got shuttled over to the car rental place where we picked up our vehicle for the week, this Bronco.
Then we headed to our hotel for the night - we are going to stay in Charlottetown for the night.
It's was a dorm room turned vrbo (but then back to a dorm room in the fall).
It was very basic and plain but it serve it's purpose well.
We wanted to change and head out to do some exploring and get something to eat but Freya didn't want to go anywhere.
Jason suggested we feed her, let her have a bit of a rest and then try again and he was 100% right.
After some food and a nap, she was ready to go out.
Happy girl now.
We found a restaurant that was open - it was Canada Day so we weren't sure if that was going to be a difficult task or not, it wasn't.
I forget the name of the place and I didn't take a picture of the outside.
Freya ordered the spaghetti - Jason and I both tried it and it was delicious - better than both of our meals.
I had coconut crusted halibut with a salad and rice.
It was good but I realized that fish with the sweetness of the coconut crust is not really my favorite.
Jason had the salmon with pesto, vegetables and it had kind of a sweet sauce on it which was good but also kind of strange.
There was a strawberry shortcake on the menu for dessert so we ordered that to share.
We all thought it was delicious and Freya kind of claimed it.
There was going to be fireworks downtown tonight so figured we'd go and watch them.
We found a spot to park - I took a picture of the street names where we parked in case we forgot so we'd be able to find it later.
Freya and Jason went down to the beach.
They found a little bitty crab.
While they did that, I went for a walk.
I had a lot of steps to do in order to reach my 12000 steps - we had lots of time before the fireworks were scheduled to start and I managed to get it done.
Jason got some nice pictures of Jason on the beach when the sun was going down.
Doesn't the sky look beautiful?
Everybody was finding their spots and settling in for the show.
There were a ton of people down there.
We met back up and went for a walk down the boardwalk.
There was a really nice park at the end that Freya wanted to play in as soon as she saw it.
So I stayed with her to let her play and Jason went back around to corner to catch some pictures of the fireworks when they started.
This was right across the street from the park.
So pretty.
I love me a house.
I convinced Freya to go back around the corner so we could watch the fireworks.
We couldn't find Jason and my phone had died so we just found a spot to sit and watch from and figured we'd just meet up at some point.
The fireworks were due to start at 10 pm.
We kept waiting but nothing then around 10:06, I noticed people were starting to get up and leave and I was so confused.
I was thinking like did we miss it, was it super short?
Like what the heck?
Then someone told us that the fireworks had been cancelled.
We kind of sat there and waited hoping we'd see Jason - I didn't really know where to go or what to do or how to get in touch with him.
It took about an hour before we found each other - we were both frustrated but it was nobody's fault, just a situation out of our control.
We were just glad that we'd finally met up - we walked back to the car and then back to the hotel.
Jason looked it up online and apparently they decided to cancel the fireworks due to the windy conditions.
It didn't seem that windy to me and it was really disappointing that they'd waited until the last minute like that to cancel it but what can you do.
Our VRBO had two rooms each with just a double bed.
So Freya decided that Jason would sleep in one room and she and I would sleep in the other.
Which was fine.
It didn't take long for us to crash - it was a long day of travel and we were all happy to get some sleep and looking forward to more adventures tomorrow.
That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
