Light House, Beach and Family Dinner (July 4, 2025)

Jason was up early and out for a run again this morning, he decided to run over to our property which was exactly 5k away.

He sent me a bunch of pictures from his run.

He saw some cows.

Eggs for sale.

He took this one on our property.

When he got back, we decided to go check out the beach and the lighthouse at West Point and Jen came with us.

This year just happens to be the 150th anniversary celebration of the lighthouse at West Point.

It is pretty.

The beach was covered in seaweed and it was kind of stinky so I had no desire to go in.

Jason and Freya went in a little ways but not too far.

There was a restaurant there - we stopped there on the way out and Jason got a couple slices of cheesecake to go.

I had brought my running stuff with me and so they let me off at the turn off to the light house.
It was about 5k back to the house from there and I wanted to get a run in so it was perfect.

It was pretty warm for running - I wasn't able to run the whole way but I managed to run a lot of it.

Got the 5k in that I wanted even if I did walk for some of it.

Felt good to get that done.

I see I got pranked!
Another of the props Jason and Freya got yesterday - fake doggy doo - she put it under my shoe.
Ha ha.

We got ready then we headed to Alberton for supper.
The family was all meeting at a restaurant there and I was looking forward to seeing everyone.

There were so many of us that we had to sit at two tables (and this is just a small fraction of the whole family).

My cousin Dawn arrived on the island today from NB and brought her grand-daughter Poppy with her who I got to meet for the first time.

Then this is the table I was sitting at.
Dawn, Jen, Uncle Wade, Mom and Aunt Brenda.

Betty and her Grand-daughter Quinn.

Poppy sure is a cute little thing and Quinn is such a nice little girl.

My Auntie Linda and I.

Jason, Freya and I.

We shared some mussels.

I ordered the chowder fries and they were very good.

They had sticky toffee pudding so you know I had to get that too.

I tried to get around and have a little visit with everyone during dinner then afterwards, some of us went to Gerald's and we had another game of cards before heading back to our place.

Back at the house there were a few surprises in store for me when I went to bed.
There were bed bugs.

Also a snake and a big turd.

Freya is just having a blast with all of these gag props.

Mel took the kids camping and posted this picture of Hunter.
Looks like he's having a good time.

That is all for today, until next time, be happy!

A PEI Feast - Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Cheese, Lobster and Crab (July 3, 2025)

Jason was up early and headed out for a run.

Then when he got back, he, Freya and I decided to go for a walk.
This is the house in the daylight - such a pretty house.

We started out strong and I was hoping to get a bunch of my steps in.

This tree we passed had two different colors of leaves.

We pretty much just made it to the top of the road by the house then Freya wanted to turn around and go back which was fine.
This is the view looking back at the house.

We decided we'd take Freya to the beach today so we stopped at the dollar store and picked up some beach toys for her then headed to the beach.

We went to Marg's shore which is a beach kind of near the Tignish run.

She had her bucket and she was looking for stuff.

She got something and she caught it all by herself.

She caught a jellyfish.
She was even brave enough to touch it.

Being here on the beach was so nice - I love walking along the beach and looking for sea glass.
I found a few pieces today.

She let the jellyfish go the was looking for something else.
She ended up finding a couple of dead crabs and insisted on taking them home with us.

When we stopped at the dollar store, Jason and Freya picked up a bunch of prank stuff including a fake tongue.
We went to visit my Uncle Gerald (and I met his new girlfriend Florence for the first time today) and he lent us a fish hook so we could play a prank.

We put a hook through the tongue and took a picture.
Then we sent it to Kody and Jen.
Jen thought it was real - only after we told her did she realize that Freya didn't really look very distraught so that was kind of a clue that it wasn't a dire emergency.

Florence and Gerald fed us supper - a PEI meal always includes sliced tomato, cucumber and some cubed cheese.

This meal also included lobster - yum yum.

I had picked up some bum buns (just pull apart buns) and I had myself a lobster roll.
So delicious.
Florence also took out some crab for us because Freya said she preferred it.
She didn't care for the crab but I loved it - maybe even more than the lobster.

We had a game of cards with Gerald and Florence and mom before heading back to our VRBO.

Freya and Auntie Jen.

We picked up some strawberries today and Freya wanted to make a dessert with them so Jason helped her make a dough.
It's ready for the oven.

When it came out of the oven, she got to work adding the strawberries and whipped cream.

What a masterpiece!

She was very proud of her work!

Before bed, Jason and Freya went upstairs and set up a few pranks for Jennifer then Freya couldn't wait for her to go to bed so she could see them.

I think she had some bed bugs that she put around the room and some caution tape.

Jen made a big deal about it and Freya thought that was just great.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Dairy Bars, Clam Strips, Visits with Family and On Glenwood Pond (July 2, 2025)

Jason did some research and found a spot with good reviews for us to go and have some breakfast.

Pur & Simple.

We had a hard time finding it - it was kind of in a mall but on the outside and the gps took us to an entrance on the other side of the mall so we were quite confused.

We ended up calling the restaurant to see if it actually existed - it did and they gave us instructions on how to find it.

We were glad that we didn't give up because it ended up being really good.

I like this sign they had up in the restaurant.

It was bright and airy inside - I liked the whole vibe.

Our sweet pretty girl.

My Honey.

Grandma & Freya selfie.

I ordered the French Toast Crisp

  • Panko breaded French toast, blueberries, raspberries, English cream, raspberry coulis, whipped cream and fresh mint • 3 slices | 21.25 • 2 slices | 18.75

  • It was amazingly delicious.

Jason had the Norwegian Benedict

2 poached eggs served on English muffin with choice of Hollandaise or spicy Hollandaise sauce and sprinkled with paprika. Served with our famous P&S potatoes, Smoked salmon, red onions, tomatoes and capers | 22.25

It was also delicious.

Freya ordered the Oh La La crepe

  • Strawberries, bananas, hazelnut chocolate and English cream | 18.75

As you can see she loved it.
She was even licking the plate.

The food was fantastic and we would definitely go out of our way to eat there again.

After breakfast we made a couple shopping stops and Freya tried on some sunglasses.

Then we hit the road for Mischouche.

It's hard to get pictures when you are driving but I just love the rolling hills of this part of the Island.

It is just so beautiful.
There are beautiful places all over Canada but my birthplace of PEI of course holds a special place in my heart.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day out too which always makes things just that much more scenic.

Our first stop was at Off the Wallz in Slemon Park which is an indoor playground.
I met my sister there - she picked up my cousins twin grand-daughters so they could have a play date with Freya.
Then two of her daughter-in-laws also came with their children which was nice - it was my first time meeting some of them.

This is Hazel - she was just born earlier in the year.
Freya just loved her.

She was pretty interested in Freya too.
Not so smiley but very inquisitive.

Then Danielle also came with her two boys.

This is Matthew - it was my first time meeting him as well - he'll be coming up to his first birthday soon.

Freya and Michael playing (Michael also belongs to Danielle and Jacob).
.
Freya, Matthew and one of the twins, Mia I believe.
The kids all played really well together even though it was there first time meeting so that was nice.

Jason and I just watching the kiddos play.

Michael.

Freya running down the slide.

We stopped play for a bit to have a snack break.
Danielle, Mia, Michael, Leah and Freya.

Jen helping Willow out with her snack.
This was my first time meeting Willow - she is a really open, friendly little girl - not shy at all.

There is the whole crew.
It was my first time meeting Kayla as well which is Hazel and Willow's mom.

Jason - the long day of travel yesterday and late night last night is catching up with him.

I have been looking forward to having some clam strips ever since we got here to the Island so decided to go to Summerside to get some.
Jennifer took the girls home then was going to come meet us (Freya went with her).

So while we waited, we hit up Sunny's Dairy Bar.

This is such a nostalgic thing for me - going to a dairy bar for ice cream in PEI.

The had orange soft serve so I just had to try it even though I initially had wanted hard ice cream.

There it is.
It was ok - I would have liked it to be more orangey but it was ok.

We walked along the boardwalk in Summerside while we ate - the ice cream was melting so fast it was hard to keep up.
It was windy and a warm wind - I think that's why the ice cream was melting so fast.

It's so pretty here - I just love it.

We found a spot to get some seafood - Hoss's Fish & Chips.
It's strictly a takeout place but that was fine with us.

They had a giant menu.

I loved the decor in there too.

I ordered clam strips, bar clams, fries with the works and popcorn chicken for Freya and we took it to my Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Coleen's to eat.
It was my first time being to their new house.

A relative was there who was highly allergic to seafood - she left to go get ice cream while we ate but we decided to eat outside anyway just so the smell wouldn't be in the house.

My sissy and I.

Freya.

The Clam Strips were so good - I'll probably have them again before I leave the island.
After we ate, we had a visit with Jimmy & Coleen, it was so nice to see them.

There was a Sunny's Dairy Bar right by their house so we walked over there to get more ice cream.
It only took a couple minutes to walk over but Freya and Jason stopped to do a little photo session.

Freya got a banana split.

They had a couple of big giant chairs there so Freya tested them out.

There was a mini dairy bar playhouse for the kids too - that was cute.

There were some mini chairs there too so we thought it would be funny if Jason and I sat in those and Freya took our picture.
She got us to smile, took the picture then showed us and this was the picture.
Little bugger took a selfie.
She thought that was pretty funny (it was).

Then she really did take the picture.

After that, we headed to our VRBO that Jason had rented for us.
It is on the West side of the Island which is near our property that we bought.
Not an area I've ever been too much but I was looking forward to checking it out.

It was evening when we arrived - this is the place we are staying in.
It looks gorgeous.

The couple that own it met us there and went through the whole place with us - very thorough.
They were very friendly.
The lady was originally from PEI but worked out in Calgary, Alberta for the Oil & Gas industry for years - it's where they met, he is from out in Alberta.
When they retired, they decided to move back to PEI.

They left us some local snacks - there was even a block of ADL cheese in the fridge.

It was right beside Glenwood Pond so I like how they named it - a spoof of On Golden Pond.

I love the house - I went around and took some pictures.
This is the kitchen - it is huge.

The dining room which was just off the kitchen - I love that it has a couch in there - what a great place to hang out.

The living room - it was nicely decorated and comfortable.

Upstairs.

A little office area at the top of the stairs.

The master bedroom - there was a door to the left which you can't see in the picture but it led out to a small balcony that looked over the water.

The master bedroom.

The master ensuite.
I love the tub!

It had a shower too.

One of the bedrooms.

I love the bedding.

It also had an ensuite bathroom.

The final bedroom had two beds.

It also had it's own ensuite with another clawfoot tub.
The whole house was wonderful.

Normally I would stay with family when I came to the island but it will be nice to have our own space.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
